Google has announced that it has a new Windows application which makes it possible to access all of your Google content on your television using a DLNA device such as a PlayStation 3. It's named Google Media Server and works on any PC running the Google Desktop, allowing things like YouTube videos and Picasa photos to be viewable on your television. This has led some to suggest that the Google Set-Top Box could be the next big thing announced by the company.

Four Google executives may be standing trial over failing to monitor third-party content posted to their Italian language site. It was reported that Italian prosecutors are preparing to file charges in a two-year old case against the Google employees over a video uploaded to Google's Italian site. Prosecutors are expected to charge the executives for defamation and violation of privacy after they failed to control the content of the site. Under EU rules and Italian law, the company is not required to monitor third party content on its sites, but takes down any offensive material when it is notified.

Verizon and Google Close To Mobile Search Deal - Google is coming to a phone near you

Google and Verizon have often been on opposing sides of deals and issues (like those issues that arose during the 700 Mhz spectrum earlier this year). While the site appears to be a challenge to Wikipedia, Google stresses that the articles and entries have a professional quality. The way Google is maintaining this difference between Knol and Wikipedia is that all entries must have be identified by the writer’s name. While Wikipedia does rely on editors and the community to police the site, Google is trying to go a little further. Google, Tele Atlas sign 5-year licensing deal for Maps - Update

Credit Suisse Says Google's Good for $900

Credit Suisse has pushed its 12-month price target on Google from $800 to $900, causing the stock to regain some of the 125 bucks it's lost to the market roiling since Google grazed $750 earlier this month. Most of Wall Street believes in its heart that Google will see a dizzying $1,000 but few have written it down. Credit Suisse analyst Heath Terry believes Google will drive out all contenders and effectively own 100% of search, which he describes as a "natural monopoly," and that all advertising, including TV, radio and outdoor, will eventually go digital using Google as its "de facto operating system." Flash Search Being Enabled By Google, Yahoo; Images/Video Still Not Searchable

In a major step forward in search technology, Adobe (NSDQ: ADBE) is working with Google (NSDQ: GOOG) and Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO) to make Flash files searchable in online search. The project will enable searches on Flash content to return text and links, which can then be indexed, and hence available in search results for the users. Content from a Flash application or even a game or advertisement will be available to search engines, reports InfoWorld. Pages containing a Flash .SWF file will be returned in a search. Google has already implemented this, while Yahoo, ever the laggard, will enable Flash search in a future version, whenever that comes out.
