Are you kidding me? Google getting rid of Google Page Creator, this must be a joke. No, it's for real. Google says they're going to be transitioning all Google Page Creator websites into their new Google Sites. Excuse me, but Google Sites doesn't come close to being as good as Google Page Creator. Why in the world would Google choose to keep the lesser of the two?

Google has signed a deal with digital-map maker Tele Atlas which allows Google to use the firm's map data on a host of devices including cellphones and gadgets based the much anticipated Android operating system. WASHINGTON: Google and Microsoft will spar today at a congressional hearing called to examine whether Google's revenue-sharing deal with No 2 search rival Yahoo will harm competition. We see all sorts of ridiculous lawsuits floating around, but here's a good one. Eric Goldman has the story of a journalist who was upset about a story written by a local college professor. The journalist felt the story was defamatory, so obviously, he sued Google for $50 billion. Yes, you read that correctly. Pissed off journalist feels that he was defamed by someone totally unconnected to Google... and responds by suing Google for $50 billion. Not surprisingly, the court wasted no time tossing this lawsuit out, and then even slapped the journalist with an order to pay Google's $12,000 in legal fees. The order to pay those legal fees was later removed on a technicality, but as Goldman notes, it appears that judges are getting pretty sick of these sorts of lawsuits, and are finally beginning to punish folks who are filing them.

Google is reportedly placing a percentage of its AdWords ads on parked and error sites, which carries no benefit for paying consumers. This practice has landed the search engine giant in hot water, with a federal class action lawsuit filed on Thursday in a US District Court in San Jose, California. Lawyer and Google advertiser Hal Levitte noticed the practice back in 2007, then filed a complaint late last week claiming Google is unjustly enriching its promises. The lawsuit was filed by Kabateck Brown Kellner, and, if approved by the judge, could involve a large numbers of litigants who advertised with Google in the last four years.

Google announced the launch of a free music-search service in China via its search engine, the Wall Street Journal reported. The service allows users to download licensed music files without charge and will be supported by advertising revenue split between Google, music companies and Chinese music website Top100.cn. Google did not specify which music labels have signed on. Internet users outside of China will not have access to the service. The move could help Google gain on Chinese rival search firm Baidu.com, which as of the second quarter held a 64.6% share in China's online search market compared to Google's 26.1%, according to data from technology consultancy Analysys International. A lawsuit was recently filed against Baidu for facilitating the download of unlicensed music via its search engine.
