The Rovio is quite definitely revving up for its September 26th launch with a bunch of new promo videos from WowWee. If you weren't already intrigued by the web-controlled roving webcam, then you will be after watching this teaser: it looks like it does a pretty fab job of maneuvering while streaming video and sounds. I do wish the camera vertical angle was more adjustable though.

The new MacBooks have a metal body and multi-touch trackpad, just like the new Pros. The Pro features two NVidia graphics chips. Quoting Jobs: "With the 9400M, you get 5 hours of battery life, with the 9600M GT you get four hours of battery life. You choose." Sellers must upgrade to the new version of the software if they wish to use it to list in the new format.

Canon has been relatively quiet on new releases recently, with cameras such as Nikon's D90 grabbing some attention. Canon set that straight today by announcing some new models, which included the revamped EOS 5D MkII. The new 5D is obviously aimed at the high end of the market with its 21.1 megapixel sensor and $2,699 price tag come November (body only). It also goes a step further than the D90 (which can record 720p video), by offering a 1080p video mode. If you want to get down to the nitty gritty, then dpreview has a nice preview article for you. Canon also announced some new compact models today, including another camera capable of full HD video, the SX1 IS. There were also new additions to the Powershot range, and the SX10 IS and G10. Obviously most will probably lust after the new 5D, but there might be something else amongst those

Here’s every kid’s dream — a real robot vehicle that actually reads its terrain and makes adjustments in its movement accordingly. Jared Whelan, Matt Craft and Dave Richards created the “versatile robot” which has a sensor that scans the ground and makes adjustments with reverses and turns. The operator can also remotely select transportation modes. In one mode, the robot’s tracks are raised for steep climbs. It comes with an accelerometer that evaluates the robot’s position relative to gravity. When the robot detects a steep incline, it will accelerate and reconfigure to a lower center of gravity for maximum traction. Once it regains flat ground, the robot reconfigures to its original position.

If you have enjoyed using the built-in iPhone application on WowWee's three-wheelin' Rovio robot, then head on over to the App Store because "Rovio Driver" looks like a major upgrade. The free app adds head position / rotation controls and the camera view appears to be much larger than the standard version. Damn, I might have to put this one on the Christmas list myself.
