Until humans can actually set foot on the Red Planet, the next best thing would be a sample return mission, to bring Martian soil samples back to Earth. A sample return would exponentially increase our knowledge and understanding Mars and its environment. And in order to pull off a mission of this magnitude, international cooperation might be required, and in fact, may be preferred. The International Mars Exploration Working Group (IMEWG), organized an international committee to study an international architecture for a Mars Sample Return (MSR) mission concept. After several months of collective work by scientists and engineers from several countries worldwide, the “iMARS” group is ready to publish the outcome of its deliberations and the envisioned common architecture for a future international MSR mission, and they will discuss thei

Jailbreak is a Half-Life 2 modification similar to Team Deathmatch for Half-Life 2, but with a difference: two teams, two jails. When you kill a member of the opposite team, they respawn, locked up inside your jail. When a member of your team is killed, they respawn inside the enemy jail. Your objective is to imprison every member of the enemy team. The twist is that you can break out members of your own team, by fighting your way to the enemy jail and opening the doors. The game goes back and forth until one team is entirely locked up, the losers executed (in a variety of customised ways), then the next round begins.

It appears that AT&T has yet again revamped their international data plan prices for the iPhone. In a plan unveiled last November, customers shelled out $24.99 for 20MB or $59.99 for 50MB when traveling in 67 AT&T-approved countries. Starting Wednesday, AT&T users can add (and drop) two new international traveling plans to their current plan at any time: 100MB for $120, and 200MB for $200. "AT&T has worked diligently to provide affordable options for international roaming because the feature-rich mobile experience of iPhone is indispensable to users," insists AT&T. That, and many customers were having to take out second mortgages to pay their vacation iPhone bills.

Electronic Arts Inc. said yesterday it will drop its hostile US$2-billion bid for rival video-game publisher Take-Two Interactive Software Inc. and instead pursue private talks with the company that created the popular Grand Theft Auto series and other video games. While shares of Take-Two fell 4% on the spectre that EA might walk away, or come back with a lower bid, analysts said a deal was more probable now that friendly talks were in the offing. EA, maker of Rock Band, Madden and other games, said yesterday John Riccitiello, its chief executive, and Strauss Zelnick, Take-Two executive chairman, held talks over the weekend. "I think Take-Two ... is going to negotiate a dollar [per share] higher and then claim victory," said Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Michael Pachter.
