Confirmed: Super Bowl Ads Drive Online Searches

Historically, the Super Bowl has been a pretty "offline" event - millions of people sit down in front of their TVs, not their computers, to watch a bunch of flesh and blood athletes run around a gigantic stadium. Still, this year's Super Bowl had a big impact on online searches. Here's the thing: as exciting as sports fans find the Super Bowl...

Great (and Not So Great) Spaced Out Super Bowl Ads

As the Super Bowl weekend begins, excitement (or dread) is building for the infamous Super Bowl commercials that will grace our screens at half time. I'm hoping there might be one or two space-themed ads.

Driver Robot

Driver robot's June 2009 release of driver robot firmware version 3.0 was significant for a number of reasons. First, it gave the driver robot copy and paste capability. Users had been clamoring for this feature since the driver robot first hit the market. driver robot's smart phone was basically the first practical hand-held computer and lacking copy and paste functionality kept the web browsing, chatting, and email user experience from realizing its full potential. Second, the new firmware gave applications the ability to receive background push notifications. This meant that applications could deliver content and information to the user without actually being open or running. The other major complaint about the driver robot was that it did not have any multitasking ability.

Pregnant woman and office worker made out of sticky tape.

Tape-Tastic! Sculptures have a sticky side. These incredible sculptures all have one thing in common - they are made from sticky tape. The amazing models of a jelly fish, fisherman and pregnant woman are made from clear tape. The models, all entries in a Scotch competition, had to be made using the firm's packaging tape. The fisherman and pregnant woman are each made from four rolls of tape. But a drum set is made from a staggering 48 rolls and an office desk is made from 36. There are also models of a dragon, a postman and a child on a swing. Pictured: Office Space by artist 'Scott M', showing a person at their workstation, complete with PC, lights, chair and desk. Google Airs Super Bowl Ad

theodp writes "CNET's hunch that Google might run a Super Bowl ad entitled 'Parisian Love' proved to be well-founded. The ad just ran (did you know that you can search the Internet using Google?), and Apple certainly doesn't have to worry about losing its claim to having produced the best Super Bowl ad ever. In fact, you might want to check out the spoof 'Parisian Love' apparently inspired — 'Is Tiger Feeling Lucky?' — if you want to see a better pitch for Google."

Canon's EOS-1D MARK IV DSLR camera captures Super Bowl XLIV

CanonThe excitement of Super Bowl XLIV was viewed by millions, making it the most watched program in American television history[i]. Several professional photographers captured every moment of the action using Canon’s latest professional digital SLR camera, the EOS-1D Mark IV. With initial camera shipments beginning less than 6 weeks before the game, Super Bowl XLIV was the first major sports event where professional photographers had an opportunity to see for themselves how the EOS-1D Mark IV camera would perform. After the game, Canon U.S.A. chose to interview four of these professional photographers regarding their use of the EOS-1D Mark IV camera and from their comments, it is clear that for these photographers, the EOS-1D Mark IV camera aced its first big test.

Google aims for cute with Super Bowl ad

It was Google's first-ever Super Bowl ad--and one of their few TV spots at all, to boot. On Sunday, during the third quarter of Super Bowl XLIV, the Mountain View, Calif., tech giant aired an ad called "Parisian Love," featuring a Valentine's-worthy romance spelled out in Google search queries.

Google Chief Explains Super Bowl Commercial

Google has scooped up billions in revenues -- and hollowed out much of the traditional media business -- with ads targeted to search keywords. Sunday, however, the search giant made its first foray into the kind of big budget brand advertising it has long pooh-poohed with a Super Bowl ad. The explanation?

Eric Schmidt Explains Why Google Blew ~$2.5 Million On That Super Bowl Ad

If you watched the Super Bowl this evening you'll have seen a video from Google called "Parisian Love". In fact you might have watched it before, because it's been on YouTube for over three months. We didn't set out to do a Super Bowl ad, or even a TV ad for search. Our goal was simply to create a series of short online videos about our products and our users, and how they interact. But we liked this video so much, and it's had such a positive reaction on YouTube, that we decided to share it with a wider audience.

After the Half: Googles Super Bowl Commercial

People are buzzing about the probability that Google will have a commercial during the Super Bowl. Search Engine Land reports that as “long ago” as 2007 Google considered a Super Bowl ad but decided against it. Now, after halftime we’ll likely see an ad for Google that many are speculating will be from its existing “Search Stories” videos.

Madden 10 Gets It Right Saints Win The Super Bowl

I've just finished watching the Super Bowl. Being a recent transplant to Los Angeles it was a little weird watching the game in the middle of the afternoon, but hey at least it was nice out. Early this week EA Sports sent out a presser saying that Madden 10 had predicted who the winner of the Super Bowl would be. The simulation gods had spoken, and surprisingly picked the underdog team - the New Orleans Saints to win, with a final score of 35-31.
