Harmison finds his line, Morkel loses his way

Steve Harmison was, in the words of his captain, "buzzing" when he learnt he'd be playing in his first Test since that abject performance at Hamilton in March. And the first over of his latest incarnation as an international cricketer fully backed up that assertion. His very first ball nearly did what 246 had failed to do at Edgbaston and remove Graeme Smith, but Alastair Cook in the gully couldn't cling onto a loose cut. Unperturbed, Harmison responded by squelching Smith's nether-regions with a wince-inducing nipbacker, and then for his grand finale, burst a rising ball through Tim Ambrose's gloves and straight into his mouth. As his team-mate spat blood for the cause, Harmison stalked down to fine leg with a renewed eagerness. Brisbane this was not.

(AP) - Bent over or sitting at a table, gripping a ballpoint pen, marker or crayon, Frank Calloway spends his days turning visions from his youth into lively murals - and at 112 years old, the images of his childhood are a window to another time.Drawn on sheets of butcher paper and sometimes stretching to more than 30 feet long, the works mostly show rural agricultural scenes, with buildings, trains and vehicles straight out of the early 20th century. And his colorful creations are gaining more attention in the art world. The works by a man who has lived about half his life in state mental health centers will be part of an exhibit this fall at the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore. His caretakers have suspended sales of his artwork until after the show after finding out some of his drawings could sell for thousand

New Zealand Hacker Released As Police, Judge, Prosecutors All Praise His Mad Hacking Skillz

Well, here's an odd one. A kid in New Zealand who was arrested for creating software used by an online organized crime group to access people's usernames, passwords and credit card details has been released and the charges against him dropped. What's odd about it is all the praise being heaped upon 18-year-old Owen Thor Walker. Prosecutors raved about how the info-grabbing program he wrote was "one of the most advanced they had seen" and the judge said that convicting him would "jeopardise a potentially bright career." Meanwhile, the police noted they "were interested in using his skills to fight cyber-crime." While we usually see police and judges overreact to hacking cases, talking about how dangerous some kid and some code can be, this almost seems like the opposite.
