Japanese Performance artist Momoyo Torimitsu built a crawling Japanese businessman robot and took it to the streets of Australia to creep out little kids and turn on weird dudes with camcorders. The bot is her critique on the Japanese salaryman lifestyle and the apparent upcoming Asian economic crash. All we know is that dressing up like a nurse and pulling down an old man's pants in the middle of the street is going to attract some lookey-loos. Oh, and I wouldn't want to scrape along the street with my undies down. Ouch. [Diagonal View via Dvice]

Japanese console gaming market analyst firm Media Create releases its sales chart for the week ending June 30th. Though the DS and Wii still enjoy signifigant lifetime-to-date sales numbers globally, the weekly race for pole position in recent memory has seen Sony's PlayStation Portable and PlayStation 3 consoles rise to the occasion thanks to major, exclusive software offerings like Metal Gear Solid 4 and Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G. For the better part of June's final week, it's the PSP which reclaimed its throne at top of the Japanese console hardware sales charts.

Stories that some PSP Go!Cam units are defectively "running extremely hot, and have emitted a burning smell" have apparently caused one Japanese retailer to issue a recall for the devices bought after July 1 this year. PSPFanboy is reporting that the unnamed company is worried about the potential fire risk if a Chotto Shot (the unit's Japanese name) gets really hot, and has alerted Sony. As yet there is no official response from the makers, and the device isn't on sale yet in the US, though it is available in Europe. [PSPFanboy via RegHardware]

The pianist Bob Florence, who was born there, won on two fronts: he led one of the finest big bands in the city, Bob Florence's Limited Edition, and he was one of the most sought-after composers and arrangers of music for the city's commercial studios. His often complex compositions ranked with the finest jazz writing of the last 50 years. Yet, despite the fact that he was regularly called to work in London, he was not as well known in jazz circles in Britain as he should have been.
