PanasonicPanasonic Lumix TZ50 test photos : I was one of the fortunate people to be live in the stadium in Switzerland watching the First EURO 2008 football match of the Dutch and Italian team. No one can deny it being a wonderful match, even the people who didn't see it. Whilst watching the game, I was allowed to take a small compact camera and take some pictures with the Panasonic LUMIX TZ50. The Panasonic LUMIX DMC-TZ50 is a special Megazoom compact camera with built-in wireless functionality. It is quite interesting to see how the camera manufacturer responds to mobile photography and its powerful wireless function. For the moment, the Panasonic TZ50 is available in the United States.

The Panasonic DMC-FX500 is the flagship of the Lumix compact camera range. Announced in March 2008, it features 10.1 Megapixel resolution, a 3in touch-sensitive screen and a 5x optical zoom with impressive wide angle facilities equivalent to 25mm. Wide angle coverage equivalent to 25mm captures a considerably wider field of view than the typical 36mm youll still find on many compacts. Its also measurably wider than the 28mm equivalent coverage of the better compacts out there, and even most DSLR kit lenses. Its not the first Lumix with 25mm that honour goes to the slim FX35 but with a 5x optical range, the FX500 has a longer reach at the telephoto end. Suffice it to say the lens also features optical image stabilisation to counteract camera shake.

So it was a bonus that we saw it in Monte Carlo instead, hence the very un-London skies in our pictures. The LX3 is a top-end compact, similar to the Canon Powershot G9.
