adobe-photoshop-mobile.jpgAdobe has announced plans to take its Photoshop brand to mobile phones, albeit not with image-editing software along the lines of the popular PC/Mac application. Instead, it’s planning to launch Photoshop.com Mobile in beta, allowing people to upload their cameraphone snaps to Adobe’s Photoshop.com site. Besides uploading, the app will let them see thumbnails of the photos in their online gallery, as well as browsing albums created using Adobe’s Photoshop Elements software. However, the mobile app will initially lack more advanced features like tagging, titling and captioning. However, Adobe is missing a trick by only making the beta available for Windows Mobile handsets, starting in late September with Samsung Blackjack, Motorola Q and Palm Treo phones.

Literacy Bridge is a public charity working towards the goal of creating tools for knowledge sharing and literacy learning. More specifically, they have been working on producing a $5 "talking book" device that can both help improve literacy and provide a steady flow of important information while the education is taking place. It looks like a web client for Photoshop will be coming to Windows Mobile, allowing users to upload pictures to Photoshop.com and edit then over the air on the cloud later. Adobe’s Photoshop application is the standard for many digital photographers. Heck, it’s even a verb now, as in “that looks Photoshopped.” But, at $500 and up, depending on the packaging, Photoshop CS3 is overkill for many users. Recognizing that the majority of photographers don’t want to be spending their time learning a complex program, Adobe has offered Photoshop Elements, a reduced but very capable editing program for a much more reasonable price (about $90).
