MANY of us have some form of property and casualty insurance, or more commonly referred to as nonlife insurance. We probably have motor-car insurance, fire insurance or personal-accident insurance. However, I dare say that so many of us who do have some form of coverage are not really aware what this form of insurance is all about.

(EMAILWIRE.COM, May 13, 2008 ) Ann Arbor, MI Pat Gage, the Opportunity Creator, shared some valuable information about business lines of credit at an investors meeting in Ann Arbor. Weve all heard that good debt is ok, but that bad debt can be a disaster. Thats true for someones personal balance sheet and may be even more important for a small business. Whats bad debt? Think high interest rates for cash spent on depreciating assets. Its impossible to grow personal wealth or business value if most of what comes in is used to pay off high interest credit purchases that have little or no lasting worth. Whats good debt? Consider debt that provides a competitive advantage. For example, access to cash might allow you to take advantage of a profitable opportunity that you would otherwise miss.

Could personal data be the new black? I'm hardly a fashionista, but the issue does appear to be all over the news at present. Two reports from Precision Marketing being proof/ (1) In Sara Kimberley's article Consumer concern grows over personal data (PM May 20), Ofcom has found that 70 per cent of consumers are concerned about the amount of personal data being held by companies. As I'm in the data business, this was disconcerting news indeed. But I'd hardly had a chance to mull this over when (2) the Home Office chimed in with its mad plan to create a single, giant database of all UK citizens' phone and Internet records to use in its fight against crime and terrorism (Data chiefs slam Government data plans, PM May 21).

A personal loan is just a generic term for any type of loan that is used for one's own personal interests. Personal loans are often much more specifically defined by what they are used for or how they are used. Personal loans are required for most things in life- so getting to know how they work and how to make use of them are two very valuable life lessons.
