AOL Launches WalletPop.com; Upgrades AOL Money & Finance Features

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 15, 2008--AOL announced the launch of WalletPop, http://walletpop.com, a new personal finance site and a spin-off of AOL Money & Finance, http://money.aol.com. The new site will help consumers survive and thrive in today’s economy by focusing on all aspects of consumer and personal finance, while AOL Money & Finance will continue to focus on business and investing news, tools and analysis. AOL Money & Finance is one of the most visited finance sites, with more than 15.2 million unique visitors each month and more page views than any other financial site.

Google Finance to add more data to fight Yahoo, AOL

Google plans to expand its finance Web site by adding more historical data and company filings as it tries to gain ground on more-popular services from Yahoo and AOL. The company will also seek to improve its 2-year-old finance site by offering real-time stock prices from the New York Stock Exchange on a permanent basis after a four-month pilot started this week, said R.J. Pittman, director of product management. Google's finance pages had 2.07 million U.S. visitors last month, ranking 13th on researcher ComScore's list of top financial sites. The company plans to use its search technology to help users find data more efficiently, rather than adding editorial content to lure more users, Pittman said.
