In addition, it was announced that Mafia II, sequal to the previous mob-styled action game, will release within the fiscal 2009 time period. According to Take-Two (via Shacknews), Borderlands was delayed "in order to allow additional development time for this highly anticipated game and provide a better balance in the release of Take-Two's triple-A titles." That other triple-A title that Take-Two has up its sleeve is GTA IV, which is currently set for an April 28th release date in the US and an April 29th release date in all other territories.

Apple certainly jumped ahead of Lightroom with the release of Aperture 2.1 and its plug-in architecture. This morning, though, Adobe fired back with a Lightroom 2.0 beta. Though Adobe hasn't announced a release date, the beta is scheduled to expire on August 31. However, Adobe wasn't afraid to lob one at Apple when describing its release schedule: "One thing we can say, however, is that we plan to continue with a more aggressive release schedule than we’ve seen from Apple, which took over two years between release of Aperture 1.0 and 2.0."

IconMandrake Linux 10.0-preview edition pretty much defines the shape of things to come in Linux land in 2004. With Kernel 2.6, KDE 3.2 beta and XFree86 4.4 beta, it doesn't leave much to be desired. This article refers to cooker snapshot as of December 31, 2003. Please note that this release is not a beta release. This is not even an alpha release. Its just something put together to show what we can expect from Mandrake 10.0. This release comes on only two CDs so some of the packages are missing. And as there are bound to be lot of bugs in this kind of release, I'll be concentrating more on the usability aspect. So let's see if it is worth drooling over.
