Sun Microsystems (JAVA) NewsBite - Sun Microsystems Falls on Downgrade

Sun Microsystems Inc. (JAVA) opened at 12.63. So far today, the stock has hit a low of 12.54 and a high of 12.85. JAVA is now trading at 12.52, down 0.62 (-4.90%). The stock hit its 52 week high of 25.04 in November and set its 52 week low of 12.37 in May. JAVA has been losing ground for the past year. The broker believes the company is at risk as demand shifts downstream and pricing pressure intensifies. Java 6 Released for 64bit Intel Macs

IconBack in 2007 when Apple released Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, a much-heard criticism was the lack of support for Java 6. Leopard shipped with an older version of Java, 1.5, even though 1.6 had been released by Sun almost a year prior. Sun had already released Java 1.6 for Linux and Windows, but did not do so for Mac OS X, since Apple insists on developing their own version of Java, according to Sun.
