Broadcom Corporation announced that a U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) judge today ruled that products of SiRF Technology Holdings, Inc. infringe six patents related to improving global positioning system (GPS) processing and sensitivity. The patents are held by Global Locate, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Broadcom. The infringement findings cover a range of SiRF products, including those incorporating the SiRFstarIII and SiRFInstant GPS architectures.

Mindspeed Sells Patents

Newport Beach-based Mindspeed Technologies announced today that it has sold what it describes as "certain non-core patents" for $10M. Terms and buyers of the patents were not disclosed. Mindspeed said the patents came from a broad portfolio of patents which are no longer core to the firm's business focus. Details on the types of patents sold and number of patents was not released by the company. Mindspeed said it has been generating revenue from patent sales in the last year, and expects to engage in additional "strategic, non-core" patent sale or licensing arrangements in the future.

Electro-Chemical Technologies Ltd. Reports That the Auction of Nine of Its U.S. Patents Has Been Completed and Approved by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court ST. LOUIS, Mo.--(Business Wire)-- Electro-Chemical Technologies Ltd. (Pink Sheets: ELCHQ) announced today that the auction of nine of its United States patents in the field of "electrochemical activation of water" has been completed and approved by the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Missouri (the auction process was previously announced on May 14, 2008). The successful bidders in the auction, John and Cheryl O'Shaughnessy, submitted a final bid of $4,830,000 for the purchase of the patent portfolio.
