S-LCD, established in April 2004, started its 7th generation line operation in April 2005 and its first 8th generation line operation in August 2007 to manufacture and supply TFT-LCD panels to Samsung and Sony. To meet the increase of the world demand for LCD televisions, Samsung and Sony agreed to expand the capacity of the 8th generation line.

MILAN (Thomson Financial) - Parmalat SpA said full year net profit rose sharply to 673.4 mln eur from 192.5 mln, and the dividend is hiked to 0.159 eur from 0.025, supported by legal settlements, in line with expectations. In a statement, confirming preliminary results issued last month down to EBITDA level, the dairy company said it sees 2008 EBITDA up 7-10 pct and sales up 3-5 pct from a year earlier. "The first months of the year are showing strong competitive pressures in mature markets, both on volumes and prices," it said. The gold exploration company posted a pretax loss of about 3.56 million pounds for the six months to Dec. 31, 2007, compared with a loss of about 1.015 million pounds in 2006. The company said it sold 7,028 ounces of gold in the first half, yielding a revenue of A$6.4 million, at an average price realised per ounce of A$912. Mercator said its intends to list its shares on the Australian Stock Exchange in the next 12 weeks. The company added that it is in "excellent" shape, focusing on production, growth and exploration in Meekatharra according to plan.
