Apple has released a fourth beta of the iPhone SDK, including an updated iPhone firmware and development tools. The latest beta, build 9M2165, is available via the iPhone DevCenter on the ADC website. According to the release notes, there are two major changes in the latest SDK. The iPhone Simulator now includes support for OpenGL ES, so 3D graphics can be rendered in simulation without having to test them directly on iPhone or iPod touch hardware. Also, code signing is now enforced by the iPhone OS, so you must have a valid certificate installed before compiling. Unsigned code will still run in the iPhone Simulator, however.

Members of the 'iPhone Dev Team' have (supposedly) made use of the recently released SDK to gin up a Beta 2.0 software hack.
