The instructions indicate that iPhone users in the US will not need to transfer their SIM card (a new one will be provided with the iPhone 3G) and describes how to transfer settings, personal info, SMS messages, and other data to the new device using iTunes' backup iPhone feature.

Milliamp Ltd helps replace broken first generation iPhone LCD screens

iPhone might be a great phone with an awesome interface and software. However, if you are not careful enough and let your iPhone slip from your pocket, it can crack easily. Milliamp LTD has thus launched a LCD replacement program that helps users with the iPhone first generation model, who might have broken their screens. Apple had launched the first generation iPhone with the screen joined to the digitizer and hence if the screen breaks, both have to be replaced. However, the newer models don’t need the digitizer to be replaced. However, Milliamp is not associated with Apple in any manner. The cost of the replacement of the screen is high when compared to the LCD screen replacement for an iPod.

iPhone better than Nintendo DS and PSP combined

If id Software co-founder Carmack can be believed, iPhone might emerge as a major force in the mobile gaming industry and trounce many rivals. He expressed regret that his company still has not released any games for the iPhone. According to him, iPhone with it’s great graphics and a large screen can support advanced games which other portable devices can’t. He said id Software is already developing two games for iPhone, a normal mobile game and the other, an advanced game that would test iPhone’s graphic abilities. Though graphics may let down iPhone, he feels it is more powerful that Nintendo and PSP combined. Though iPhone may not be the definitive answer to mobile gaming, it sure is a great device, at least for now.

Introducing Bullfrog Touch for iPhone and iPod Touch

Outer Level announces the release of their first iPhone game, Bullfrog Touch. Classic arcade action comes to iPhone and iPod Touch, but with a twist. Tilt, flick, and touch your way through 50 challenging levels to earn your spot atop the online global rankings. Race against the clock to eat six unique bugs on 13 beautiful maps featuring animated water, lily pads, plants, and other obstacles.

Games preview: iPhone Games

Mobile games fall into one of three categories: 1) over-complicated versions of well known console games in no way suited to the small screen and unresponsive phone keyboard. 2) 1980s arcade games - the sheer ennui threatens to overwhelm. 3) Joyously new and inventive titles that bear in mind the staccato usage and simple controls necessary to work on a phone. So few fall into the last camp that mobile games are near worth ignoring. Will Apple's promised 160 iPhone games change that? Early signs are at least positive, with the iPhone remix of that megalith of galactic evolution, Spore, shaping into something intriguing; Bomberman, while unproven on a touch screen, is normally pretty reliable; LocoRoco-alike Rolando promises some cute tilt-based gaming and Super Monkey Ball already has punters forming a virtual queue round the block.

Almighty PwnageTool 2.0 arrives, down goes new 3G OS for iPhone

Promises and promises and few more promises, that’s what came from Apple’s stable about iPhone 3G software being unhackable, but iPhone Dev Team has done it again as they released PwnageTool 2.0 for iPhone 3G, 1st Gen iPhone and iPod Touch. Sadly, PwnageTool 2.0 is only able to break all shackles on 1st Generation iPhones and not on iPhone 3G.
