Today we are looking at a headset for the iPhone called the Maximo iP-HS1 iMetal Stereo Headset. The headset has a built-in mic for making and receiving calls and a soft touch button that allows you to answer and hang up calls as well. Sound quality from the Maximo iP-HS1 iMetal Stereo Headset is good with nice deep bass and crisp highs and mids. The headset works well for calls with clear and legible speech on both sides of the conversation. The mic does pick up a bit of extraneous room sounds, but not so much to be a real issue.

Today we are looking at the iMetal iP-HS2 Isolation Headset for iPhone that is designed to work specifically with the iPhone. The headset is very attractive and works well. The other day we reviewed teh iP-HS1 model from the same company. I found that the ear tips are rather small in their sizes; I typically use medium ear tips on most isolation style headsets. On the iMetal iP-HS2 Isolation Headset for iPhone, I had to move up to the large to get the same seal and fit I normally see with medium tips. If you have large ears, this could be an issue for you.

Apple this week began posting information for iPhone users intending to update their device to the new iPhone 3G. A new support document explains how to replace an original iPhone with an iPhone 3G using the same carrier: "If you follow these steps to backup your original iPhone first, and then restore the backup to your iPhone 3G, your saved SMS messages, email accounts, photos, notes, and other personal settings will be present on your iPhone 3G," the company noted. The instructions indicate that iPhone users in the US will not need to transfer their SIM card (a new one will be provided with the iPhone 3G) and describes how to transfer settings, personal info, SMS messages, and other data to the new device using iTunes' backup iPhone feature.

Apple on Monday released iPhone 2.0.2, an update to its second-generation software for the original iPhone and iPhone 3G. The update is about 242MB and first appeared via iTunes just after 5PM EST. As is usually the case with iPhone updates, Apple provided few details, saying simply that the update contains "bug fixes," and links to existing online iPhone support resources. Over the weekend the company seeded iPhone v2.1b4, a private beta, to developers, but removed the much anticipated 'push" feature that would allow applications to respond to internet triggers (new email, an IM, etc.) without being open. The major software update along with the unique "push service" was announced in June 2008 at Apple's WWDC and was expected to launch in September, according to Apple CEO Steve Jobs.

(Review) - We’ll get right to the chase. Apple’s iPhone 3G is very similar to the original iPhone. In fact, first-generation iPhones can be updated to use the iPhone 2.0 software, which will give a lot of the software capabilities of iPhone 3G to its predecessor. However, that doesn’t mean that iPhone 3G isn’t worth the upgrade. If you were holding out on the original iPhone in hopes of iPhone 3G, this is your chance to grab one, assuming can get past the strict requirements of activating the phone in AT&T or Apple Stores. That’s of course to prevent a lot of folks from unlocking their iPhones.

The iPhone Dev Team has posted its PwnageTool 2.0.1 software to jailbreak Apple, Inc.'s latest iPhone operating system 2.0. An unreleased exploit in the iPhone OS was used to allow non-Apple applications to run on Apple's iPhone and iPhone 3G. Contrary to early reports, the hack does not unlock the iPhone 3G to use carriers other than AT&T.

Rogers Wireless Communications Inc. sold out of its initial iPhone stock in a handful of Canadian cities over the weekend after it began selling Apple Inc.'s popular touch screen cellphone on Friday. Rogers declined to prove specific sales figures, however Apple said that more than one million iPhones were sold around the globe during the first three days of sales in 21 countries. "IPhone 3G had a stunning opening weekend," Apple chief executive officer Steve Jobs said in a statement. Who knows when the white version will touch down (if at all) in the UK. Still, if you don’t lead a monochrome lifestyle, you’ll be pleased by the strong rumours that Apple is planning to launch a red iPhone for Christmas. Or rather a RED iPhone, as it’ll apparently be part of the charitable (PRODUCT) RED campaign, which Apple has supported in the past with scarlet iPods. It’s a good cause, but does anyone really want a red iPhone? That said, if Apple ever launches a green one that benefits eco charities, I might be tempted to switch to it…

Apple fans, old and new, got to experience the good side and the dark side of Apple's product launch mania during Friday's iPhone 3G release. Lines were long, though some said not as long as for the original iPhone, but the big news was all the iPhone activation problems. Apple's decision to brick iPhones until they were activated at AT&T stores, or via users' iTunes software, showed the real weak link in Apple's launch strategy of bring out the iPhone 2.0 software and iPhone 3G devices out on the same day.Â

An anonymous reader sends us to CNet for news that Apple clone maker Pystar plans to countersue Apple. We discussed Apple's suit last month. "Mac clone maker Psystar plans to file its answer to Apple's copyright infringement lawsuit Tuesday as well as a countersuit of its own, alleging that Apple engages in anticompetitive business practices. Miami-based Psystar... will sue Apple under two federal laws designed to discourage monopolies and cartels, the Sherman Antitrust Act and the Clayton Antitrust Act, saying Apple's tying of the Mac OS to Apple-labeled hardware is 'an anticompetitive restraint of trade,' according to [an] attorney... Psystar is requesting that the court find Apple's EULA void, and is asking for unspecified damages."

Apple has confirmed that the iPhone will become officially available in Russia in 2009, reports Prime-Tass, citing Yevgeny Butman, the chief executive of Apple's official distributor in Russia, Apple IMC, in Vedomosti. It has also been preliminarily reported that the 8 gigabyte version of the 3G iPhone, which currently retails for around US$299 in the United States, could cost up to around US$2,000 in Russia, although no official details have yet been confirmed. Each of Russia's three largest mobile operators—Mobile TeleSystems (MTS), VimpelCom and MegaFon—are in talks with Apple about selling the iPhone next year. The model has already unofficially debuted in the Russian market, with around 470,000 having been privately imported and unlocked to work on any mobile network.

It looks a like a week's worth of bad press has finally worn down Apple (AAPL: sentiment, chart, options) bulls, as the shares are poised to close today with a loss of nearly 2%. Meanwhile, the media's full-court press isn't letting up. In the latest report to seek answers in regard to the company's response to growing concerns about the iPhone 3G's connection issues, all ABC News was able to get from Apple was "No comment." What's more, the issues are starting to take a toll on die-hard Apple fans, with ABC quoting one loyal user as saying, "I am a true Apple fan, so this is nothing to make Apple look bad. ...
