Blackberry To Have Amazon ebook Application

Amazon has launched a free ebook reading application for select BlackBerry phones. Called "Kindle for BlackBerry", the application allows book lovers to read over 400,000 Kindle books on their BlackBerry. The application will be available for the models Bold 9000, Bold 9700, Curve 8520, Curve 8900, Storm 9530, Storm 9550 and Tour 9630, reports Techtree.

Amazon.com Offers Kindle E-book App for BlackBerry

Seattle - Amazon.com (NASD: AMZN) on Thursday introduced a new Kindle e-book reader application for Research in Motion's (NASD: RIMM) BlackBerry smartphones. The free application will give BlackBerry owners on AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon and other carriers direct access to the Kindle store and 420,000 e-book titles. Amazon released a Kindle application for Apple's iPhone last March.

Sling Releases 3G Enabled iPhone Application - Product of non-existent AT&T collaboration...

Earlier this month AT&T proudly announced that they were going to stop blocking Sling Media's Slingplayer application for iPhone from working over their 3G network. AT&T had previously blocked the application so it only worked via Wi-Fi, stating that the application was too bandwidth intensive (though AT&T allowed equally bandwidth-intensive apps like Major League Baseball). AT&T stated they lifted the ban because Sling was willing to make the application less bandwidth intensive (Sling denies this and says they changed nothing), but it's more likely AT&T was worried about the FCC's plans to encode network neutrality rules. Whatever the reason behind all of this month's place-shifted drama, Sling dropped us an e-mail this morning to note that the new, 3G-enabled version of their application is now available for download from iTunes.
