The BlackBerry's keyboard is an object of worship, and RIM CEO Mike Lazaridis has publicly said the iPhone's touch keyboard sucks. So, the BlackBerry Thunder's touch keyboard had better be the best one you've ever smeared your fingerprints on. According to Crackberry, it has two big tricks: The screen itself is "sort of like a big button," so it pushes in a little bit with a clicky sound, and it buzzes where you push it (localized haptics). There is one big limitation though.

A bit more tricklage on RIM's "Apple Killer," the touchscreen BlackBerry Thunder: The official model number is the BlackBerry 9500, and the touchscreen is a bit higher res than the iPhone's (360x480 to 320x480). It'll be running OS 4.7.0 (the Bold runs 4.6). As we inch closer to the September release date expect to hear a lot more, since RIM's ship ain't exactly the tightest one on the seven seas. The BlackBerry Thunder now has a specific release date and over-the-air music downloads, if a leak is found to be accurate. Research in Motion's first-ever touch BlackBerry is now purportedly due to launch with Verizon on October 8th and will have access to Verizon's version of RealNetworks' Rhapsody service. The feature may supply a technical advantage over the iPhone, which is both prevented from downloading whole songs outside of Wi-Fi and must pay per track rather than getting a flat rate for songs.

Best Buy Co. will start selling the iPhone on Sept. 7, becoming first U.S. chain to do so outside of Apple Inc.'s and AT&T Inc.'s own stores. The announcement, expected today expands the availability of Apple's vaunted phone to 970 full-size stores and 16 smaller Best Buy Mobile stores. It's also a coup for the Minneapolis-based chain, which has been upgrading its cellphone departments. "We had a lot of work to do, obviously, to get in a position where Apple and AT&T would feel good about Best Buy Mobile carrying it, and that's what we've done in the last 18 months," said Shawn Score, president of Best Buy Mobile. Best Buy also resells Apple's Mac computers and iPod media players. Apple spokeswoman Natalie Kerris said the long-standing relationship between the companies was the reason Best Buy would now be able to sell the iPhone.

My old keyboard was so crusted up with junk from years of abuse that I found myself struggling to depress most of the keys on the left side. So I decided that it was time to find a new keyboard. My plan was to steal the keyboards of my co-workers and try them out when they aren't around. But as this plan was underway, Das Keyboard asked me to review their newest keyboard. I used it for a few days to see if their website's claim of 'the best keyboard on the planet' is valid. Read on to learn more.

Research in Motion's BlackBerry Thunder touchscreen phone has at last been shown in real-world photography, courtesy of a leak by Crackberry. The device is identical to user guide drawings and other escaped images and is dominated by its touch display; four buttons underneath let RIM hide many extra software functions in menus rather than having to expose them with always-on visible buttons, as with the iPhone. The design should allow the Canadian company to implement its first touch interface without alienating most existing users.

Fans who have played the main numbered titles might find the DS button layout--moving with the D-pad, selecting commands with the X button--a little bit like being lost at sea. But, even that is only right at the start. In no time the discomfort fades and you feel like you're playing "Kingdom Hearts". The most unusual part is using the lower touch screen to change perspectives. While your left thumb is on the D-pad controlling movement, your right thumb manages the touch panels to regulate the point of view. It's quite an original way of controlling things (though it's possible this will change over development). The battle system is very simple with nothing unusual about it. However, gone is the system where magic used MP. Instead, we saw that commands like Fire had a number beside them, showing that each command is now governed by a lim
