3G iPhone confirmed for Italy at leas: related news

3G iPhone rumored to head to Belgium in June

3G iPhones may also be on their way to Belgium this summer. On the heels of reports of a 3G iPhone coming to Italy soon, and echoing earlier reports of an unlocked 3G iPhone appearing in Australia this summer, there's now rumor that a 3G iPhone will be sold in Belgium by the end of June. Belgian mobile phone site astel.be says it has heard rumors that give the time for release anywhere from May through June. The time frame seems a little off when you consider that the rest of the world expects an announcement about updated iPhone hardware at Apple's WWDC, which kicks off the second week of June.

3G iPhone confirmed, for Italy at leas...

Over at David Manners' blog, there's confirmation -- if it were really needed -- that the 3G iPhone is launching next month, in Italy at least.

3G iPhone Watch: AT&T discourages vacations

According to an internal AT&T memo that Boy Genius Report obtained, the carrier is making very similar preparations for "an exciting new promotion/product launch" right around the one year anniversary of the iPhone in June. AT&T sent a memo to employees discouraging them from taking vacations between June 15 and July 15. The 3G version of the iPhone is expected to launch during that period and AT&T said it expects "heavier than normal customer traffic" in its stores during those four weeks. The memo, however, does not specifically announce the coming of a 3G iPhone. The iPhone 2.0 software is also set to launch this summer and the company believes the new software will make the iPhone more appealing to the enterprise.

iPhone Complains & Problems? No More Problem With iPhone-Singapore!

Singapore - With every new firmware updates for the iPhone coming out faster and faster, third party application programmers have to keep updating and patching their programs. Bugs and problems continue to plague the iPhone users with different firmware updates for unlocked iPhones and it sometimes give a bad impression to the high expectations of the iPhone. Worse is that users didn’t know that they do not have to put up with such iPhone bugs and problems. They are stuck with such iPhone bugs and problems because the iPhone sellers simply don’t care. Some users are stuck with damaged and spoilt iPhones, feeling they have bought an iPhone bargain but in the end, because they can’t use the phones, turn out to be a sour lemon instead.

iPhone Updates To Increase Workplace Usability

iPhone users rejoice! Developers will soon have access to the iPhone SDK, the same tools Apple uses to develop new applications for the iPhone. Apple also introduced the iPhone Simulator, a kind of virtual iPhone that runs on a Mac to aid in developting new applications. The iPhone is also getting a face lift that should aid in its usability in the workplace. New features will include Microsoft Exchange support, "push-based" email, contact and calendar synchronization, additional support for VPN's, etc. These new features and the release of the iPhone SDK will undoubtedly make the iPhone a worthy competitor to the Blackberry in the workplace.

3G iPhone coming within 60 days?

3G iPhone coming within 60 days? With all the rumors of an upcoming 3G iPhone doing the rounds for months now, it really doesnt take an expert to predict that the device is coming eventually. However, with influential tech pundit Walt Mossberg chiming in on the rumors saying a 3G version of the iPhone will arrive in 60 days, this story is only going to get bigger between now and June.

Nokia Talks About An iPhone Look-Alike; 3G iPhone Coming In 60 Days?

Nokia (NYSE: NOK) may be the dominant handset-maker worldwide, but it too apparently feels the need to develop an iPhone wannabe, and is currently working on its first touchscreen phone, codenamed “Tube,” according to InfoWorld. The sighting comes a week after AT&T (NYSE: T) said ”within months” all of its smartphones, including the iPhone, will be running on 3G, and other reports are surfacing today, saying that WSJ’s Walt Mossberg says the 3G iPhone will be here in two months.

3G iPhone again rumored for summer US/Europe launch, AT&T preps

AT&T reportedly tells employees not to take vacations between June 15 and July 12 this year. Hot on the heels of a major announcement by Vodafone that it will launch iPhone in 10 countries worldwide, the New York Times reports that Apple plans to release a 3G iPhone before August. Citing an unnamed source "close to the situation," the Times says Apple wants to have the updated iPhone in stores before Europeans head out for summer holiday, which is commonly in August. A 3G-capable model is seen as the only way to spur demand in European markets, where the majority of cell networks are 3G.

O2 and T-mobile eat it while Europe gears up for 3G iPhone

Unlocked 3G iPhone could be coming to Italy 'in a few weeks.' The hype surrounding Apple's iPhone has everyone scrambling to get a piece of the potential pie. UK's Times Online is reporting that O2 and T-Mobile are both going to be stuck eating a lot of leftovers. The UK and German carriers have recently slashed prices on iPhones to try and sell through the current model as the whole world collectively holds its breath for an updated, 3G capable iPhone expected this summer.

Bank of America: 3G iPhone in June...

Apple's planned second-generation iPhone, equipped with 3G broadband, will likely ship in June, according to an analyst from the Bank of America. "Our latest channel checks point to a significant production build of a 3G iPhone beginning in the month of June after a initial small build in May," says Scott Craig. Carrier partner AT&T has previously announced that a 3G iPhone will arrive in 2008, Reuters notes, but has otherwise remained quiet on when it might ship.

Piper: European iPhone selling light, 3G device soon

Changes in the European iPhone market may have a dual significance, argue analysts with Piper Jaffray. Following a 75 percent price cut in Germany earlier this month, the UK has also slashed the price of the 8GB iPhone by 37 percent, to reach 169 ($335). Piper argues once again that this is a sign European carriers are attempting to clear out stock in advance of a 3G iPhone, anticipated for June; it may also however be emblematic of sales below expectations, a factor typically attributed to the iPhone's unusually high price in Europe, and a widespread acceptance of 3G that Apple cannot currently deliver on.

AT&T Reported Ready To Offer 3G iPhone, Starting at $199

AT&T will reportedly launch Apple, Inc.'s 3G iPhone in June with a $200 subsidy, which could bring the starting price to $199. AT&T wants to use a discounted Apple 3G iPhone to lure subscribers away from rivals Verizon and Sprint. AT&T reportedly will delay a 3G Blackberry, giving Apple's iPhone an opening into the consumer and enterprise markets.

Are Infineon and InterDigital in iPhone 3G?

The web is abuzz with the news that the latest iPhone 2.0 beta software revealed whose chipset was at the heart of the impending 3G iPhone. The fairly innocuous and cryptic word ‘SGOLD3’ embedded in the code points to Infineon’s SGOLD-3H baseband processor. While this is news for many enthusiastically expecting the 3G iPhone, it is only a confirmation of what I have been saying since last fall – Infineon (IFX) and InterDigital (IDCC) will be at the heart of the next iPhone.

3G Italian iPhone, PayPal Backpedals and More Wacky iPhone Rumors

Italian iPhone: la Repubblica, an Italian newspaper, reports that the iPhone is on its way to the boot-shaped country. The real news is that they report that Telecom Italia will not share revenue with Apple and won't have a long-term contract. On top of that, it'll be a 3G iPhone that's introduced.

O2 Slashes iPhone Price, Amazon Fails to Dent iTunes and Japanese Burn Case is Settled

O2 slashes iPhone Prices: UK mobile provider, O2 will officially cut the price of the 8GB iPhone by £100 ($197) to the low, low price of £169 ($333). iPhone owners who purchased their device in the past 30 days will get a voucher for £100. This news almost cements the rumors of the 8GB iPhone being phased for either a larger capacity iPhone or the much anticipated 3G iPhone.

Apple releases 4th iPhone SDK and beta 2.0 firmware

Apple has released a fourth beta of the iPhone SDK, including an updated iPhone firmware and development tools. The latest beta, build 9M2165, is available via the iPhone DevCenter on the ADC website. According to the release notes, there are two major changes in the latest SDK. The iPhone Simulator now includes support for OpenGL ES, so 3D graphics can be rendered in simulation without having to test them directly on iPhone or iPod touch hardware. Also, code signing is now enforced by the iPhone OS, so you must have a valid certificate installed before compiling. Unsigned code will still run in the iPhone Simulator, however.

Phonedifferent.com Eases the Wait for iPhone Apps With Contest

INVERNESS, FL--(MARKET WIRE)--Mar 18, 2008 -- Phonedifferent.com, a leading iPhone blog and iPhone community, today announced that the iPhone App Wait-a-Thon contest is underway. Every week until Apple releases the iPhone 2.0 software update, the Phone different community site is going to give away a $100 iTunes gift certificate to a lucky site visitor. Also, in anticipation of the myriad of iPhone applications that are under development for the iPhone, the Phone different site has started an App Watch section where a consolidated list of all known iPhone applications will appear with their expected arrival dates.

Report: AT&T to cut iPhone price to $199

According to a report in Fortune, AT&T is planning to reduce the price of Apple's upcoming 3G iPhone to $199 through a $200 subsidy. Apple is expected to announce two version of the 3G iPhone, according to the report: an 8GB iPhone for $399 and a 16GB iPhone for $499. By reducing the pricepoints by $200, AT&T will be putting the popular handset within reach of more subscribers spending limits. Since iPhone users have proven to be heavy data users, it follows that recouping the subsidy wouldn't take too long for AT&T.

3G iPhone to Sport a Black Plastic Back?

Everyone is getting pretty anxious about the prospects of a 3G-touting Apple iPhone, especially since most of us have no confirmed idea of what the next-generation cell phone is going to look like. As such, we should probably take this photo with a grain of salt. Pictured here is what appears to be the next iPhone, except the back is a fingerprint-loving glossy black, instead of the metallic back that is found on the current iPhone.

3G iPhone is Radically Different, Boasts QWERTY?

Take this report with a serious grain of salt, because it involves the 3G iPhone and we all know how rumors about that device go. Although Cupertino hasn't confirmed things one way or another, it's well within the realm of possibility that the 3G iPhone will be announced in June. And now we're hearing that it's going to "radically different" than the existing model.

3G iPhone Chatter Picking Up

I’m not prepared to read too much into these, but they certainly do sound interesting. First, MacRumors today notes a report from iPodObserver concerning an interview with Gartner analyst Ken Dulaney saying that he’s hearing from sources in Asia that Apple has already ordered 10 million iPhones capable of running on 3G networks. One potential feature he says is that the new phone will boast a screen that uses organic light-emitting diode (OLED) technology in the display. If that’s correct, it would among other things cut the power consumption on the unit. This is crucial because the 3G chipsets are still rather power hungry in comparison to the chipsets in the current iPhone, and that the result leaves battery life unacceptably short. Cutting down the power needs of the screen might go a long way making a 3G-ready iPhone a more real

AmTech: 3G iPhone 'accelerated,' sold next...

A new iPhone equipped with 3G broadband may be arriving much sooner than anticipated, says Shaw Wu of American Technology Research. Although AmTech had predicted a 3G phone for later in the second half of 2008, based on checks with supply chain sources, Wu now believes the new hardware will come in late June or possibly July. This should roughly coincide with the launch of the iPhone 2.0 firmware, which will bring added functionality to the iPhone platform in general.

Possible 3G iPhone

A lot of Windows Mobile users are looking over to the Apple camp to see what Apple does next and how Windows Mobile could improve in the area of the user interface. However, despite not having a metal case and glass screen for the "cool" touch, what Windows Mobile has is stellar reception. Windows Mobile phones have some of the best reception of the phones on the market, something that the iPhone does seem to struggle with in areas with poor or more limited reception. To combat this, the iPhone is changing from the metal case to perhaps a black glossy plastic backing. The iPod Observer has posted a picture of the iPhone back with a new glossy black plastic, similar to the Samsung BlackJack II. Could this be the next generation iPhone sporting a 3G radio?
