Singapore, Sept 2, 2008: Researchers have discovered two new genes that increase the risk of developing inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in childhood. While further study is needed to identify the specific disease-causing mutations in these new genes, the researchers say the genes are particularly strong candidates to be added to the list of genes already known to affect IBD.

Electronic Arts announced Monday that it will publish a new title from id Software, one of the leading independent game developers. EA and id showed a short video of the game at an EA press event at the E3 games conference in Los Angeles. Dubbed "Rage," the game involves "action, exploration and driving," said id co-owner John Carmack. He did not say when the game would be released but said id would reveal more details at it's QuakeCon event in Dallas later this month. The deal is something of a coup for EA. Id, which invented the first-person shooter genre in 1991 with its "Wolfenstein 3D" game, has had a longstanding relationship with EA-rival Activision. Activision published id's most recent versions of its popular "Doom" and "Quake" franchises.
