Forrester data shows that nearly one in three (29%) US online consumers recall traveling for business last year — that's roughly 48 million US online adults. Based on their employers' travel policies, these business travelers belong to one of three segments: 1) unmanaged travelers, who represent the majority of business travelers (57%); 2) lightly managed travelers, who make up 16% of business travelers; and 3) heavily managed travelers, who account for the remaining 27% of the business traveler population. The three segments of business travelers exhibit very different travel and booking behaviors and also vary in technology device ownership and spending habits. To better serve these segments of business travelers, travel eBusiness and channel strategy professionals should focus on streamlining the booking process, providing useful con

The ISPs that use NebuAd's boxes routinely argue that they provide robust notification to customers before deploying the gear, and that any customer not thrilled about having her browsing data routed through a third-party ad-serving box can opt out with just a single click. But what happens when you're "robust notice" takes the form of two paragraphs buried inside a 5,000-word privacy policy and you don't even e-mail your users to point out the change? Well, now we know: only 15 of 26,000 people opt out.

According to its past and present marketing, Foresight Linux has three claims to fame: Its user-friendliness, its use of the Conary package management system, and its role as a showcase for the latest in GNOME. In practice, its latest 2.0.4 version is not more user-friendly than any other GNOME-based distribution -- if anything, it is slightly less so because of its limited software selection and package management -- but its other claims are enough to make Foresight one of the more distinctive modern distributions.

There aren't many websites that can be traced to a "specially marked box of Fruity Pebbles." Actually, there's probably only one--Swell3D.com. It all started for Sean Gleeson when his two pre-teen daughters started asking for that cereal box with the 3D artwork on it. He couldn't find it! Improvising, he set out to create some 3D imagery on his own. With the girls' help he made some dorky looking red and blue 3D glasses and looked at artwork he'd drawn on his computer.

As a manager, I hold orientations for new employees that include filling out the W-4 form. Most of my employees are teenagers and never know how to fill it out. I know that I should not advise them on how to fill it out so I have them call their parents. All I know that I can tell them is that they would either put zero in allowances taken out or exempt on line 7. Different parents give them different directions.

There's a neat little rule in press coverage: three stories makes a "trend" even if there's not much more to it. This works particularly well on stories where you're trying to scare people into worrying about something "bad" happening out there. Of course, rather than explore how widespread the problem is, the report usually just quotes a few biased individuals and spreads the message of "fear, fear, fear!" Witness this story in USA Today claiming that sexual predators are using gaming consoles to target kids. It hits all the points: scary situation, lists out three cases, quotes a few police officers claiming it's a big deal -- but doesn't provide any evidence or stats on how widespread this really is.

(Obvious, I know. Hear me out.) But what about those times when you're out and about, trying to meet up with a friend, and neither side can figure out exactly where the other is? Solving that problem is the goal of a slew of new apps for the iPhone.
