June 5, 2008 (FinancialWire) Tandy Leather Factory, Inc. (AMEX: TLF) (Current Market Cap: US$ 34.36 Mil.) said that its sales for the month of May were $4.5 million, down 1% from May 2007 sales of $4.6 million. The company s year-to-date sales are down 4% to $22.6 million in the current year from $23.5 million last year. The company s Retail Leathercraft segment posted an 8% sales increase for May, with sales totaling $2.0 million compared to $1.9 million in May 2007. The 67 comparable stores posted a 3% same store sales gain for the month. Five stores that opened in or after May 2007 added sales for the month of $86,000. Year-to-date sales for Retail Leathercraft are $10.4 million this year, up 3% over last year's sales of $10.1 million. As of the end of May, same store sales were down 3% for the year.

The latest figures from the IMRG Capgemini e-Retail Sales Index reveals that poor weather conditions appear to boost online clothing sales whilst driving people away from the high street. Snow and rain this April appeared to have encouraged online shoppers to spend nearly £326 million on clothes and online footwear sales saw a significant growth in sales of 20%. These figures drew a sharp contrast to sales on the high street - The British Retail Consortium reported that clothing and footwear fell further to their worst for at least 8 years.

Auction Industry Reports Slower Growth in First Quarter of 2008

A recent NAA survey found that 33% of US auctioneers reported an increase in gross sales receipts during the first quarter of 2008, down from a 34% increase reported in the first quarter of 2007. Overall, there was a net increase in gross sales revenue for live auctions of 3.25% compared to the same quarter last year. US Consumer Phone Sales Decline 22 Percent In Q1; BlackBerry Enters The Top Five: Report

The shaky economy is starting to show up in U.S. phone sales. In the first quarter, consumer phone sales reached 31 million handsets, falling 22 percent compared to the year-ago period. For the first time, the NPD Group said sales fell between the busy holiday quarter and the first quarter. Despite this, the phones being sold today are higher-end compared to the year ago period, with smartphones comprising 17 percent of all phone sales, a 10 percent increase. The trend of declining unique visitors and page views shown for eBay in the first quarter of 2008 continued during the month of April. According to Nielsen Online, the number of unique visitors to the eBay site declined 10.73% year-over-year (YoY) in April, while page views declined almost 13% in April compared to April 2007. The time spent per person on the site, however, increased 12% in April, YoY.
