A Trio Of Sony D-SLRs

Earlier this year, Sony became the most prolific D-SLR manufacturer by announcing four cameras within a two-week period. This included a pro model, due later this year, that had scant specs available at press time. I was able to extensively test the other three, which are quite similar in that they all start from the same “base”: the entry-level 10-megapixel A200, which replaced the A100. The A300 adds Live View and a vertically tiltable LCD monitor. Boasting much higher 14.2-megapixel resolution, the A350 is otherwise the same as the A300. During a six-week period while traveling extensively, I tested all three cameras in order to fully appreciate the benefits of each model.

It's all about the cameras today with Sony leading out two new compact piccie grabbers from their photographic stables. Part of the Cyber-shot range, they go by the names of the Sony Cyber-shot T700 and the Sony Cyber-shot T77 and just to confuse matters even more, Sony Ericsson brought out the their new T700 mobile today. Yeah, that caused a little fun for a while.

Canon 1000D review

CanonCanon 1000D digital SLR camera review : With the introduction of the new EOS 1000D, Canon move into the 'thousand' series for the first time, that is: with digital SLR cameras. If you can still picture the analogue EOS SLR cameras, you will probably recall the entry level EOS 5000 model. Canon follow the same strategy for the digital EOS, and seem to have opened the door completely in order to ensure that the D-SLR camera can become a reality for every consumer. It is quite obvious that the Canon EOS 1000D is meant to be the first one in a new series of future models.

Current Tales of Vesperia DLC won't give you God-like characters

Siliconera.com writes "Kotaku sparked an interesting discussion when Level up packs appeared as Tales of Vesperia downloadable content. There are three packs online now: Level Up + 5 (1), Level Up + 5 (2), and Level Up + 10. However, you cannot repeatedly buy the Level Up + 10 Pack and skip grinding all together. Each of these packs and the 300,000 gold can only be purchased once. If you buy all of the level up packs the maximum paid level boost you can get is 20 levels for 700 Microsoft Points ($8.75)."

Nikon's D60 D-SLR

Nikon keeps cranking out new D-SLRs, most recently with the D3 and D300 (see Shutterbug reviews at www.shutterbug.com), and now, building on the great success with their amateur line-up of the D40 and D40X, the new D60. Sporting 10.2 megapixels (same as the D40X), the D60 has the lightweight and portable feel of the D40 series, with some extra tricks up its sleeve. Foregoing LiveView, which seems to be featured in most new D-SLR cameras these days, the camera incorporates a dust reduction system that “flows” air within the mirror box to prevent it from settling on the sensor and a sensor cleaning function that uses vibrations to shake off dust on start up. Another nice touch is how the camera automatically turns off the back LCD when you bring the camera to your eye, and how the LCD read-out panel switches to vertical when the camera
