Court directs Sony TV to delect objectionable scene of OSO

Acting on a petition filed by yesteryear actor-filmmaker Manoj Kumar, a local court today directed Sony Entertainment Channel to delete a scene from the film 'Om Shanti Om' that he found objectionable, before it is aired on the channel on August 10. The Additional Session Court Judge R T Mahajan delivered the order, asked the channel to ''either delete the portion or not to telecast the film.'' Mr Kumar had filed a case against Shah Rukh Khan, producer of the film, its director Ms Farah Khan and Sony entertainment channel, seeking deletion of a scene from the film, showing him being insulted.

More information has been given about Sony's first WHDI device, the DMX-WL1T, according to Sony Insider. This interface will allow uncompressed 1080p HD video and audio signal to be transmitted to any Dmex compatible Sony Bravia HDTV. WHDI is claimed to be capable of data rates up to 3GB per second, transmitted on a 40mhz channel in the 5Ghz unlicensed band. The range for the DMX-WL1T is said to be 5 feet, significantly less than Sony's claims of the distance WHDI technology is capable communicating.

Sony's Next-Generation Blu-ray Disc Player Now Available at Sony Style Stores and Retailers Across the Country

NEW YORK, July 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Sony's next-generation Blu-ray Disc player, model BDP-S350, is now available across the country at Sony Style retail outlets, sonystyle.com and other authorized Sony retailers. Sony To Sponsor Speed Skater Klassen

Sony of Canada Ltd. is sponsoring Canadian Olympic speed-skating sensation Cindy Klassen, with six medals, Canada's most decorated Olympian. Sony Corp will invest $369 million (40 billion yen) to power up its lithium-ion battery production operations, adding new facilities and augmenting existing lines. The infusion, which Sony said is the first phase of investment in lithium-ion batteries the company is undertaking as part of efforts to reinforce core areas of its component and semiconductor business over the next three years, will be used to construct new production facilities and to enhance existing lines at Sony's lithium-ion battery production sites in Japan, the Motomiya Technology Center and Tochigi Technology Center of Sony Energy Device Corp.
