There was a time the PlayStation 3 spelled a dark time for Sony (cue storm clouds). Production costs were massive, and many gamers wrote the system off, decrying Sony's lack of..knowing what the heck they were doing. To be sure, to some extent at least, this was valid. Especially around launch time, it must've been a nerve-wracking period for Sony. Its CEO Howard Stringer offered a couple of thoughts on the situation to Next Generation (at the All Things Digital conference, which also procured this bit of information), explaining what was going wrong, and what's now going right:
