Activision Blizzard Announces Final Results of Self-Tender Offer

today announced the final results of its tender offer to purchase up to 146,500,000 shares of its outstanding common stock at a price of $27.50 per share, net to the tendering stockholders in cash, less any applicable withholding taxes and without interest. The tender offer expired at 5:00 p.m., New York time, on Wednesday, August 13, 2008. Pursuant to the tender offer, Activision Blizzard has purchased 85,916 shares of its common stock at a purchase price of $27.50 per share for a total cost of approximately $2.3 million, excluding fees and expenses relating to the tender offer. Activision Blizzard is funding the purchase of shares in the tender offer with available cash on hand. The tender offer was agreed to be made in connection with the business combination between Activision, Inc.

It's all about the cameras today with Sony leading out two new compact piccie grabbers from their photographic stables. Part of the Cyber-shot range, they go by the names of the Sony Cyber-shot T700 and the Sony Cyber-shot T77 and just to confuse matters even more, Sony Ericsson brought out the their new T700 mobile today. Yeah, that caused a little fun for a while.

NEW YORK, July 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Sony's next-generation Blu-ray Disc player, model BDP-S350, is now available across the country at Sony Style retail outlets, sonystyle.com and other authorized Sony retailers. The BDP-S350 supports BonusView (picture-in-picture), which is featured on select new Blu-ray Disc home video releases, and is also BD-Live ready, with an Ethernet port for easy firmware updates and access to Internet-based interactive content features. A firmware update enabling BD-Live is planned later this year. Sony To Sponsor Speed Skater Klassen

Sony of Canada Ltd. is sponsoring Canadian Olympic speed-skating sensation Cindy Klassen, with six medals, Canada's most decorated Olympian. The athlete will represent Sony at events, appear in campaigns, and use the company products to promote the Sony brand. Sony Corp will invest $369 million (40 billion yen) to power up its lithium-ion battery production operations, adding new facilities and augmenting existing lines. The infusion, which Sony said is the first phase of investment in lithium-ion batteries the company is undertaking as part of efforts to reinforce core areas of its component and semiconductor business over the next three years, will be used to construct new production facilities and to enhance existing lines at Sony's lithium-ion battery production sites in Japan, the Motomiya Technology Center and Tochigi Technology Center of Sony Energy Device Corp.

Sony to stop manufacturing televisions in Vietnam in September

Hanoi - Sony plans to close its television picture tube factory in Vietnam after 14 years of operations, a company official said Friday. Sony Vietnam, a joint venture between Japan's Sony Group and Vietnam's Viettronics Tan Binh Co, is to close its factory in Ho Chi Minh City at the end of September, company spokeswoman Pham Xuan Anh Thy said.
