For some of us, travelling in a plane is about as enjoyable as having your fingers pecked off by vultures. Leave it to music then, to calm the nerves and alleviate the fear of hijacking and crash landings. Of course, this means you need earphones or, preferably, noise-cancelling headphones. But these can be bulky. Instead, Panasonic's new £30 RP-HX50s could be a good choice -- they're extremely compact on-ear headphones and they come packed in a DVD case for flat-packed ease-of-carriage.

As a sinus sufferer, I don't like earbuds either for my music player or as a mobile phone headset. You continually feel as if you should be blowing your nose, every sound echoes around inside your skull and when you speak, because you cannot hear yourself properly, you tend to shout; the more you shout, the more it rattles around your head.

Music is something that all of us want to listen to undisturbed, and that is the way it is enjoyed best. Unfortunately, we are surrounded by so much ambient sounds (especially in a city like Mumbai), that such solitude is really hard to find. Sony has taken it upon itself to take care of this issue by releasing its noise-cancelling pair of earphones - MDR-NC22. These aren't the cans as you may have wrongly guessed (and we don't blame you for that), these are in-ear type of earphones, the first of such a pair with noise-cancelling feature; we have got our hands on. Let us see if they really walk the walk as they talk the talk.

PanasonicPanasonic interview at PMA : Panasonic entered the market with the Lumix digital compact camera line only a couple of years ago. We have seen Panasonic grow and the last generation of digital cameras is without a doubt impressive. Bas de Meijer sat down with Ichiro Kitao, Product Planning Manager Panasonic Optical Group, to ask him several questions. Besides the new compact camera line that was introduced just before the PMA kicked off, there are a few models that stand out, such as the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5 and the Lumix FX35 digital cameras. Last year's introduced L10 DSLR camera is the second DSLR camera in the assortment that was introduced conform Panasonic's planning. Bas de Meijer's interview with Ichiro Kitao;

Although CNET did not review the 42-inch Panasonic TH-42PZ85U, we did review the 46-inch Panasonic TH-46PZ85U. Judging from their spec sheets, the two Panasonic plasma HDTVs are essentially identical but for screen size, so we expect the picture quality of the 46-inch model to provide a good indication of how the 42-incher will perform. For more information, refer to the full review of the Panasonic TH-46PZ85U.

Although CNET did not review the 50-inch Panasonic TH-50PX80U, we did review the 42-inch Panasonic TH-42PX80U. Judging from their specification sheets, the two Panasonic plasma HDTVs are essentially identical but for screen size and native resolution; the 42-inch set has a resolution of 1024x768, while the 50-inch set is 1366x768. We doubt this difference will make much on an impact on picture quality, if any, so we expect the review of the 42-inch model to give a good indication of how the 50-inch model will perform. Many people's first experience of 'proper' noise cancelling headphones will have come courtesy of a pair of Bose cans, supplied to cancel out the hum of aeroplane engines in business class. Bose has been involved in the technology for some years now and seems to have the airline business well and truly sewn up. I've also seen its earbuds bundled with some MP3 players: the Samsung T10 for instance has a decent pair of Bose phones included. But strangely it hasn't yet gone for the biggest growing sector of the headphone market - in-ear headphones - in a particularly big way.
