I was recently brought in by a company who had a security breach due to a home user who was allowed to create a VPN tunnel back to the home office. This was done by creating an end point to end point connection from the users home wlan router which has a vpn option on it to the home office vpn router. Normally this would not be an issue but the user set up different ssid's  for home and work, the only ssid that had any type of WEP on it was the one used for the company laptop. The other ssid's created for home users and children did not have a WEP settings created.

Cisco Systems, Intel and four other backers of a wireless Internet standard called WiMax said they want to help spread use of the technology by limiting possible patent royalties. Cisco, Intel, Samsung Electronics, Alcatel Lucent, Sprint Nextel and Clearwire will pool patents needed to develop equipment used on the new networks, making it easier for potential suppliers, Sriram Viswanathan, general manager of Intel Capital, said on a conference call. "It brings a mechanism to keep the royalty rates low," Viswanathan said. "It brings transparency." Backers of the technology want makers of consumer electronics to build printers, music-file players, digital cameras and other gadgets that will connect to the Internet using the new standard, executives on the call said.

It wouldn't be Computex without an Intel chipset launch. With today's arrival of Computex 2008, Intel has officially unveiled their 4-series of chipsets for desktop PCs. The 4-series launch consists of the G45, G43, P45, and P43 chipsets. The most significant addition in the new G45 chipset is without a doubt Intel's Graphics Media Accelerator X4500HD. The new IGP boasts full support for DirectX 10 and Shader Model 4.0, although OpenGL 2.0 support won't be added until a driver update is provided sometime in Q3'08. PanasonicPanasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5 review : One year after the introduction of the Panasonic TZ3, and right before the PMA 2008 kicked off, Panasonic revealed the successor to the TZ3: the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5. Panasonic don't complain; they work steadily on a carefully constructed series of compact cameras to keep their market share and to enhance it. Compact cameras such as the Panasonic TZ5 are very much appreciated, and that is for a reason. A camera of this format, equipped with a 10x optical zoom is liked by the majority of the consumers. Impy the Impiuos Imp writes to tell us that in a recent statement Intel has revealed their plans for the future and it goes well beyond the traditional processor model. Suggesting developers start thinking about tens, hundreds, or even thousand or cores, it seems Intel is pushing for a massive evolution in the way processing is handled. "Now, however, Intel is increasingly 'discussing how to scale performance to core counts that we aren't yet shipping...Dozens, hundreds, and even thousands of cores are not unusual design points around which the conversations meander,' [Anwar Ghuloum, a principle engineer with Intel's Microprocessor Technology Lab] said. He says that the more radical programming path to tap into many processing cores 'presents the 'opportunity' for a major refactoring of their code base, including changes in languages, lib
