In the England v South Africa series we hope there will be no repeat of the Dean Jones commentary moment when he called Hashim Amla "the terrorist". Indeed, it will be poignant watching the South African tonk it around the park. As millions cowered under apartheid, a Muslim representing South Africa would have been fantastical. Now, some say this builder of handsome hundreds could eventually captain his country, despite covering the logo for Castle Lager on his shirt: truly, South Africa is the rainbow nation.

There are basically two camps on the year's most anticipated phone: iPhone 3G or BlackBerry Bold. They are different phones with different core audiences, which largely comes down to keyboard preferences. But Boy Genius gives us a lot to chew on anyway in the first live head-to-head (and not just the photos). The shockers are that the newly plastic iPhone 3G has a better build quality and the Bold's screen is better, thanks to a dense pixel-per-inch ratio.

Reports from South Africa suggest that a cybercrime syndicate there has defrauded the government of more than 199 million Rand (UKP Ł12.8 million) in a series of spyware infection-driven frauds. The frauds, which were revealed on Tuesday by the South African Minister for Finance and Economic Development, has resulted in 32 arrests in connection with more than 80 fraud counts. Commenting on the case - thought to be South Africa's largest reported cybercrime spree by a single gang - Geoff Sweeney, CTO with IT security vendor Tier-3, said that spyware attacks are notoriously difficult to stop in their tracks owing to their unpredictable nature. "The evolution of malware has reached the point where the lines are blurring between viruses, trojans and what we call multi-vector IT security threats.

eBay (NSDQ: EBAY) is in talks to acquire a minority stake in GMarket, a South Korean online auctioneer. The talks are with Interpark Corp., the Korean portal that owns 37 percent of the company. A spokesperson from eBay told AP that there was no certainty a deal would be reached or that it would be approved by South Korean regulators—eBay already owns a South Korean competitor, the aptly named Internet Auction. No deal terms have been announced, although shares of NASDAQ-listed GMarket shot up over 14 percent on the news. In 2006, Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO) took a 10 percent stake in GMarket, so they’re a beneficiary of this as well.
