John Savage, the former Leicestershire and Lancashire player, has died aged 79 after a short illness. Savage, who also coached at Lancashire for nine years from 1969, passed away in Rochdale Infirmary on Monday after a short illness.

Siggraph 2008 drew to a close with a bang Thursday night as ILM hosted a screening of its new Star Wars: Clone Wars animated feature at the Nokia Theater following the final run of the Electronic Theater. The screening featured an intro with the film's director, Dave Filoni, being interviewed by ILM Academy Award-winning visual effects supervisor (and co-inventor of Adobe Photoshop), John Knoll, about their Star Wars experiences. The 2008 Digital Camera Usage and Satisfaction Study examines camera model lines in four body-style segments: point and shoot, premium point and shoot, ultra slim and digital single-lens reflex (DSLR). In each segment, four factors are measured to determine customer satisfaction: picture quality, performance, ease of operation, and appearance and styling. The study is based on responses from more than 8,000 consumers who purchased a digital camera between April 2007 and March 2008. The study was fielded in June and July 2008.

Nick writes "A few weeks ago a video of a talk given by Adam Savage of the television show MythBusters spread across the internet (including a mention on Slashdot.) On the video, Savage stated that the show was unable to produce an episode about previously known RFID vulnerabilities due to a conference call to Texas Instruments that unexpectedly included several credit card companies' legal counsel. TI (via a spokesperson talking with cnet.com) stated that only one lawyer was on the call and that the majority of the people on the call were product managers from the Smart Card Alliance (SCA) invited by TI to speak.
