Warriors bowl out Eagles for 28 as they go top

The Warriors crushed the Eagles by 261 runs in the only result of the second round at Port Elizabeth. After Arno Jacobs (77) and Ashwell Prince (51) helped the Warriors reach 256 following an inspired spell of 4 for 36 by Victor Mpitsang, the Eagles were then dismissed for just 28. In a nightmarish innings, none of the batsman, barring Ryan Bailey, managing double-digit scores, with Makhaya Ntini and Lonwabo Tsotsobe sharing the spoils. The target of 500 set by the Warriors thereafter was going to be near impossible for the Eagles given the psychological scars from the first innings. And it was seamer Juan Theron whose seven-wicket haul wrecked the innings the second time around to help wrap up the match shortly after lunch on the final day.

Titans make perfect start

Martin van Jaarsveld and Faf du Plessis plundered the Eagles with a 229-run stand in 24 overs, to power the Titans to a successful run-chase as they pursued a massive 335 at Bloemfontein. The pair butchered the Eagles attack with du Plessis smashing 15 fours and two sixes in a 72-ball 114. van Jaarsveld wasn't far behind as he cracked nine fours and three sixes, finishing on 132 from 96 balls. Such was the dominance of their display that the Titans eased home in their chase with 26 balls to spare. It was a tough match for the bowlers throughout as 670 runs came in 85 overs after the Eagles also cut loose during their innings. The top four all passed fifty and Boeta Dippenaar sped to 71 off 45 deliveries, but that paled into insignificance once du Plessis and van Jaarsveld got going.

Hello, so welcome to my Blog. And this is my first sojourn into the world of Blogs so forgive me if it all goes horribly wrong . I never was one for a diary or journal before, although there was a memorable period when I was 9 when a frantic burst of enthusiasm resulted in 2 weeks’ worth of postings in a diary. Fascinating reading it was: Monday, got up, went to school, came home, watched TV, went to bed. Tuesday, got up, went to school, came home, watched TV, went to bed, Wednesday got up, went to school, came home, created plan for global domination, watched TV, went to bed. I’d like to set expectations low, this is going to be an occasional thing. Less is more, hopefully.
