An open letter to David Gold

I witnessed the appalling scenes in front of the Directors box and I have to tell you that the majority of the fans sat in front of you were turning their anger on the people who were abusing you and David. I would hate to think that you were under the impression that the real fans of Birmingham City would wish you or David any harm. If you think back to the Renaissance Hotel in Kuala Lumpur when you met the real Blues fans who had travelled halfway round the world to see a friendly tournament and were grateful to do that. Those are the real fans and those people you would let down were you to stand down as Chairman. As a true gentleman from a humble back ground I am sure that you have the strength and determination to put aside this moronic behaviour of a few low lives that the Club could well do without.

Palm Readies the Palm 2.0 OS

David Flynn from the Australian computer magazine APC wrote in and let us know about an interview he had with Ed Colligan recently when Colligan was there for the local launch of the Centro. David chatted with Ed on a wide range of subjects including the 'Palm 2.0' OS, a possible return for the Foleo (as a prosumer brand, a product or perhaps both?) and why, in the face of competition from BlackBerry, Windows Mobile and Apple, "why Palm doesn't just give up and go home...". David got a great interview.

Prince hurts England with second hundred

Ashwell Prince and AB de Villiers ground England's weary bowlers down in a magnificent partnership of 179 on the second day at Headingley, as South Africa took a crucial 119-run lead. After scraping just three wickets in two days at Lord's, there was always a concern England's bowlers would be a little jaded. And so they were today, conceding 221 runs and stealing one measly wicket. They rarely looked like taking any more, either.

David Sonin: music critic and former arts editor of Jewish Chronicle

David Sonin, the music critic of the Ham&High (Hampstead and Highgate Express), and a former arts editor of the Jewish Chronicle, must have been one of the very few employees of that journal to have been educated by the disciples of St Ignatius Loyola. Give them a child at the age of 7, so the saying goes, and he is theirs for life. This was not quite so with Sonin; but his early education at the primary school of a Jesuit college in Sydney left him with a passionate and lifelong interest in Gregorian plainchant, medieval church history and architecture — subjects in which he was a formidable autodidact.

Web 2.0 and Ecommerce: David Friedman

David Friedman of Avenue A | Razorfish is talking about Web 2.0 technogies and ecommerce. The title was “Web 2.0: A reality check” and I was kind of expecting a cautionary tale, but it was more a tale that went something like “if you’re not doing this, then you’re dead.”
