ABU DHABI (APP): West Indian captain Chris Gayle Wednesday said Australia’s Test series defeat in India could be a turning point in international cricket that will make the game better. India beat Australia 2-0 in the four-match series, raising hopes that a team other than Australia could become world champions in the future. “India beating Australia is a turning point for us. Getting more wins over such an opponent will make cricket even better,” said Gayle who is here for a three-match series against Pakistan, which started here on Wednesday. Australia’s 2-0 loss to India has prompted experts to predict that the world champions’ dominance of the game is nearing an end, particularly after the retirement of the likes of Glenn McGrath, Shane Warne and Adam Gilchrist.

SYDNEY (Agencies): After being dumped by the International Cricket Council (ICC), following the controversial Sydney Test in January, umpire Steve Bucknor makes a comeback to cricket after 11 months and will stand in the two Tests between Australia and New Zealand. The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the 62-year-old Bucknor would control the two Tests in Brisbane and Adelaide with fellow West Indian Billy Doctrove. In North America and Europe Sonic Unleashed is exploding on every viable console on the market with a PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, and PlayStation 2 version that Japan isn't getting. Sega of Japan plans to release Sonic: World Adventure (renamed to better fit Sonic's journey around the Earth and downplay the Werehog thing?) only on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii. The PlayStation 2 port will be completed before Sonic: World Adventure launches in Japan so this begs the question why is Sega passing on it? It's not like Sega Japan is abandoning the PlayStation 2 entirely. Thunderforce VI comes out on Thursday in Japan and unless Sega has anything secretly planned it will be the final PlayStation 2 game published by Sega in the region.
