good mcafee newbie pda wlan driver has issues needs site stuff this used w
I've had to try and hit the ground running because I really needed this PDA, so I'm trying to learn as I go, short on time. I don't need the Wi-Fi big time yet, but it WILL help down the road, SO: When I first acquired this Axim the WLAN utility was up and running (just not with my home network, I'll get to that.) But now status bar says the driver is not loaded. It's out of warranty, says previous owner, and the driver is not on list at support.dell.com. Anyone know where I can get the driver? I checked here, don't see it.

A colleague of mine has a site. When we type site: www.thesite.com and enter we get the list of webpages with title and description. But after the title we are getting a line that the site may harm your computer. Why is this ? Also they dont have a cached version of it. I am as such reluctant even to open the site becos of this warning. I have gone thru google advice on this and have asked the person to thoroughly check all pages for anything wrong with the coding. I think they are in process and also they had written to the mentioned link given in Google's pages but no response so far? Has anyone experienced this before and have idea what to do?

So, I used to think I knew stuff about SEO. However, my admittedly new, about 3 month old site, which however has been ranking very well for 2 months considering it's young age for various search phrases, has recently been dropped, entirely. It is so bad that searching for a "quoted selection of half a sentence" comes up with some other freaking site!

IconIn these days there has been much fuzzing about the new browsing with files organizing themselves with the help of meta data. Maybe you ask yourself "What have this to do with the spatial browsing in gnome and how can it improve the browsing?". That's what I did. As I see it, the gnome people have introduced the spatial browsing so we are used to it when this new browsing is coming to town. This is very intelligent move of the gnome people and will help us adopt faster to this. This is when the spatial browsing is really making sense. I hope you see this when you've read this article.

You can have too much of a good thing. My partner used to get an RSS feed from Tor.com, but when the site kicked into full gear, he canceled the feed. Said he got 34 downloads to his reader in one day. That's no longer interesting/informative -- that's nagging. There seems to be a narrow fence to stand upon. My guess is 10 or less from a site is optimal. I've canceled feeds for anything over a dozen. I'm too busy to be tempted by some much new stuff.

The area given to Small Press has not changed. With regard to Artists Alley this year we are able to accommodate 210 artists, up 43 artists from last year when we had 167 spaces. And I should point out that the 167 was up 20 people from the year previous where we accommodated 147. And I will state emphatically that no publisher, or any exhibitor, for that matter, has been asked to reduce their booth size to make way for Hollywood. Or any other exhibitor. Each year the floor changes in configuration. Some exhibitors hope to expand their space, some exhibitors reduce their space and still others elect not to return for any number of reasons. This is true this year as well. When additional space becomes available, we try to accommodate requests of long time exhibitors while still keeping the floor dynamic by welcoming new exhibitors.

"The GeForce 8800GT has been supported by NVIDIA's proprietary Linux driver for many months now, which enables full 2D and 3D acceleration along with X-Video support, but no XvMC support. The obfuscated xf86-video-nv driver does support this card but only with 2D acceleration. Finally, there is support through the Nouveau driver but that is reverse-engineered and still very much under development. We had tested this card with the NVIDIA 173.14.09 display driver. Another note about the NVIDIA support under Linux is that their PureVideo and PureVideo HD technologies are sadly not available under this operating system."

I admit it, I'm rich, maybe not in money, but when it comes to Google PageRank, my site ranks better than 70% of the sites out there. If I had to pay income tax on this, I'd be in the top or maybe the second highest tax bracket. This means that I get asked for charity links all the time. Many people want to be linked from my site, and would like that link to be on the home page, preferably for a long time. In fact, there are lots of ways you can get your article or site linked to from this site - but writing me an email demanding a link is not one of them. Even writing an email asking for one is not likely to get you one. And writing an email explaining to me the benefits of a backlink, thus proving that you never read my site (or you'd know that I know all about the benefits of backlinking, and even wrote an article recently on how to re

thatskinnyguy sends news of Merriam-Webster's 2008 list of new words and, to no-one's surprise, a good number of them come out of geek culture: words like webinar, malware, netroots, pretexting, and fanboy are now official words according to M-W. The CNet article pulls out one "new" word for special appreciation — mondegreen — and, while the article gets the origin right, it ends with a lame call for readers to send in their favorite mondegreens. (CNet does have the good grace to link the Kiss This Guy site.) SFGate columnist Jon Carroll has been collecting readers' mondegreens since 1995 and his list is bound to be better. Quoting Carroll, in a prophetic mode: "This space has been for some years the chief publicity agent for mondegreens.

billybob2 writes "VIA has released a 113,800 line open source graphics driver with full mode-setting support for CRT, LCD, and DVI devices along with 2D, X-Video, and cursor acceleration. Harald Welte, VIA's open source representative, states that the next step is to add 3D (see preview), TV-out, and hardware codec support while integrating this work with existing open source projects. VIA has pre-installed Linux on a significant portion of the company's latest products, including the EVEREX gPC2, 15.4" gBook, and CloudBook. It has also helped port the open source CoreBoot BIOS (previously LinuxBIOS) to several of its motherboards." VIA seems to be making good on the promise of its open source initiative announced last April.

I am very happy to see this! It's one more step that VIA has been working on to improve and show their support for Free Software and Linux. Please notice that this driver (as opposed to VIA's proprietary binary-only Xorg driver) has no support for 3D, hardware video codec or TV encoder support. Nevertheless, it is a big step ahead.

imageDespite shifting focus to an ad-supported business and ad network years ago, AOL (NYSE: TWX) can’t seem to shake the image of being known as that dial-up ISP. So rather than continue to fight, AOL is finding that it might just be better to erase it, or at least downplay it somewhat. Case in point: two new channels, a personal finance site called WalletPop and a free professional images site, Pixcetera, debuted this morning—both without the AOL brand prominently featured on its site (scroll way down) or in the URL. That said, the sites do have the same look and feel of others and AOL’s main page features a link that does connect directly to WalletPop—but the link only says “Money” and doesn’t identify the site by name. As AOL continues its site rollout—the company is in the process of creating a new one aimed at younge

Who needs a 360-degree camera and lens? Olympus thinks surveillance mavens will eat this up, this camera with eyes in the back of its head, capturing images of all that takes place within its all-encompassing line of sight. It works like the Google Maps Street View Dodeca 2360 camera, shooting in all directions, but this one has just one lens instead of an array of 11. It’s also can’t shoot 360 degrees vertically like Google’s camera can; this one takes in a 360-degree horizontal image with a 180-degree vertical view, good enough for us because we don’t have much need to shoot feet and ceilings.

Lowdown: This 10 megapixel digital SLR is built around the four-thirds sensor used by Olympus and Panasonic/Leica. It is the smallest and probably the lightest DSLR on the market, but it is not flimsy. It has one of the best implementations of so-called live view, in which the LCD is used as a viewfinder. Auto focus works reasonably well in live view, which is unusual. The 6.7cm LCD screen has excellent resolution. It also serves as the camera function display and proved fast and intuitive in accessing settings. The viewfinder is cramped and not that bright. The in-built flash has good power and diffusion. Image stabilisation is by sensor shift and there is also automatic dust removal. And there is face recognition, a dubious first for an SLR.

flosofl writes "Matthew Paul Thomas has an entry on his blog called Why Free Software Has Poor Usability, And How To Improve It. While this advice is helpful and may indeed lead to improvements in many open source programs, the guidelines may be much more difficult for smaller projects. From the entry, 'Free Software has a long and healthy tradition of "show me the code." But when someone points out a usability issue, this tradition turns into "patches welcome," which is unhelpful since most designers aren't programmers. And it's not obvious how else usability specialists should help out.'" Thomas has been developing the ideas in this essay for years. The critique is comprehensive, listing 15 challenges in the way software projects, and in particular free software projects, are structured, with suggestions for improving each one.

Google and Verizon have often been on opposing sides of deals and issues (like those issues that arose during the 700 Mhz spectrum earlier this year). However it looks like the two companies are about to put the past behind them as they are rumored to be nearing a deal which would make Google the default search engine on all Verizon phones. The two companies would split ad revenue so that both would benefit. The deal has not been commented on by either party but sources say that a major point of contention is that Google seeks to save user search information in order to improve targeted ads and Verizon wants to keep that data to itself. Google is already the default search engine for Sprint phones and has a search partnership with Nokia plus the first Android phone has just gotten FCC approval so this is another step for Google towards do
