Drexel students create mind control video game

Imagine a video game that you can control, with your mind! It’s being created by students at Drexel University. They call the game Lazy Brains, and it uses a neuro-imaging device that’s placed on the player’s forehead. The device is capable of reading your brain signals, allowing you to actually think your way through the video game. The neuro-imaging device is currently being used by doctors to test anesthesia awareness in patients, but six students at Drexel thought of interfacing the device with a computer.

Russian search engine group Yandex has launched the public beta of Yandex.Video. Service users can search and share videos clips online, as well as view the most popular videos. Yandex.Video currently searches about twenty video hosting services including youtube.com, rutube.ru, video.mail.ru, smotri.com and myvi.ru. The service's video search method is based on analysis of names, tags, descriptions and other video clip attributes. Search results are ranked according to user ratings. Yandex.Video continuously updates the most popular videos shown on its front page, as it receives information about new comments and new videos posted in blogs from Yandex's Blog Search service. Service users can upload an unlimited amount of video files and create their own favourite lists.

Game Developer Claims that Dual-Layer DVDs Not Enogh for Upcoming Rage Video Game.

John Carmack, the president and technical director of id Software, said in an interview that the forthcoming Rage title from the studio mostly known for Doom and Quake series would not look exceptionally good on Microsoft Xbox 360 video game console since the developers will need to use advanced compression methods to fit the game on two dual-layer DVDs. Unfortunately, Mr. Carmack did not reveal when the game is set to become available.

Federation of American Scientists put its money where its mouth is. FAS released Immune Attack, an educational video game designed to teach immunology to AP level high school students and combines the most current research on teaching methodologies with a 3D first-person shooter game.
