Hours after Sony made the firmware available, users started complaining about a range of problems, and Sony has pulled the update in order to investigate.

Bad news spreads fast in today's world, so when Sony released the 2.40 PS3 firmware update last week it wasn't long before reports of problems started to emerge, with some being unlucky enough to brick their console with the update. Sony therefore made the decision to take down the 2.40 update while they ironed out the problems, with the result being today's 2.41 firmware. Sony are now confident that the issues with 2.40 have been resolved, and have extended their apologies to the Playstation community for any inconvenience caused. 2.41 doesn't add any additional features over 2.40, and Sony hasn't said what it will do about the consoles that were bricked by the 2.40 firmware yet.

Sony has updated their Playstation blog with a boatload of info on the next system update for the Playstation 3, version 2.4.
