Sony has updated their Playstation blog with a boatload of info on the next system update for the Playstation 3, version 2.4. The update will bring several new features we've already mentioned such as trophies and the ability to play music in-game, but that's not all: the new update will also support XMB access inside games. Like the PSP, the 2.4 update will also include Google support via XMB. Sony has posted a video walkthrough highlighting the new XMB, as well as a 2nd video dedicated to the trophy system.

Go download that 2.40 firmware update now for your PS3! It's got trophies, in-game XMB as well as a Google Search Bar. The trophies (achievements from Xbox 360) will be great for hardcore gamers, and the in-game XMB, which allows you to access various settings and send messages to your friends while inside games, makes for a very convenient gaming experience. We've got a video walkthrough as well as photos here. Seriously, go get it now or else you're going to have to spend 15 minutes doing it later when you actually want to play something online.

PlayStation 3 in-game XMB finally coming in June? It seems like every time a new PlayStation 3 firmware update is on the horizon, somebody is predicting that it will have trophies (read Achievements) and the long-awaited in-game XMB feature, that would finally allow gamers to load the menu system without closing their game for accessing their friend list and more, you know ala Xbox.

Unfortunately, the update process did not appear to be as silky smooth as it was for previous firmware releases, and technical issues soon reared their ugly heads.

Everyone seems convinced Steve Jobs will announce a new iPhone next week at WWDC and the speculation is wild as to what new features it will include: 3G cellular support, GPS, new design, etc. While I'll admit the evidence is strong that a new phone will be introduced -- one cannot ignore the low supply of the current model or indicators like AT&T's "no June/July vacations" memo to staff -- I am not convinced this new phone will be radically different from the current model.

Support for in-game XrossMediaBar features means players will no longer have to exit a game when using some social interaction features. We’ve all been hearing a million different things about this “new” iPhone that is suppose to be coming out any day now! I recently spoke to one of my friends who works at AT&T and I guess the new gossip going around is that the new iPhone is going to be cheaper than the original. I don’t know about you guys, but I find this hard to believe. The 3G is suppose to be faster, have GPS, a new glossy black cover (that is said to be color changeable), slightly thicker, updated software and the camera is expected to be better. I’m sure there will be a ton more things that will be changed or newly added to the new iPhone, so it’s a little strange that Apple would make the new iPhone less expensive...Especially, because people are going to buy it no matter how much it is.
