There have been rumours doing the rounds of an imminent price drop for Microsoft's Xbox 360 console. The hearsay might indeed be true as advertisements were recently spotted showing the Xbox 360 selling for about $50 less than it's $350 price tag: The Xbox 360 Pro is being sold at Target's brick-and-mortar stores for $299.99. This US price drop follows a similar move in the UK. Could an Indian price drop be far behind? Given the history of the Xbox 360 in India, it could very well be; hopefully, the console will reflect its new international price come Diwali, at the latest.

The North American market has been the stronghold of Xbox 360. It was out far before the competition and as a native company many found Microsoft's new video game console to be a trustworthy product. Xbox 360 has been the most sold console in the USA since the launch, but Nintendo has ended that era according to NDP Research. After only 20 months on the market it has sold 10.9 million Nintendo Wii consoles throughout the USA. This is just thousands more than the number of Xbox 360 consoles sold in the USA, which has been on the market for 32 months. I think we can conclude that Nintendo was right not to get involved in the tech war between Microsoft and Sony.

This rumor comes from the same leaky survey site that provided the Xbox 360 Avatar rumor and the WiiFit-like balance board rumor, so it may or may not be legit. Supposedly there's a company working on a device called Trioxide which, according to Kotaku, allows "the ability to play the latest console games (ie Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, etc) on your PC." The only way we can see this as working is on a really powerful PC with really optimized emulation software, which takes years and years to develop. How will this affect the Arcade and Elite models is anyone's guess. Rumor has it that Microsoft will be unveiling a new Xbox 360 SKU with a built-in 60GB HDD. We just got word from Microsoft that the Xbox 360 is totally sold out in Japan, and that's just how they like it. Microsoft's console has been outselling Sony's Playstation 3 lately at a rate of almost 3 to 1, with the Xbox selling 28,116 last at the start of August while Sony sold only 10,705 PS3s.
