Not a lot is known about the game yet, but we can expect the same fun action filled with unlockable content. We can't wait to burn LEGO rubber around the streets of Gotham. LEGO Batman: The Videogame is being released for the Xbox 360 in September. Coming this Fall to North America is the LEGO Batman PS2 bundle, which includes the LEGO Batman game and the Justice League: New Frontiers flick for $149. I would buy this machine if it had a Batman logo on it, especially if it was released in the next two days as my Batman slobbering becomes fully torrential leading up to Thursday night. Still, not too bad.

Did you ever think a game meshing an iconic film franchise with LEGO would be such a huge hit or so much fun to play? We know we didn't; it seemed too silly and childish to actually be good. Then we played LEGO Star Wars. And kept playing it. And the same went for LEGO Star Wars II and LEGO Star Wars III. And we're still working through LEGO Indiana Jones.

jmcbain tips a fascinating interview in Scientific American with a professor of kinesiology and neuroscience (and a 26-year practitioner of Chito-Ryu karate-do). The question was, how much training would it take for a normal person to become Batman? The professor says: "You could train somebody to be a tremendous athlete and to have a significant martial arts background, and also to use some of the gear that he has, which requires a lot of physical prowess... In terms of the physical skills to be able to defend himself against all these opponents all the time, I would benchmark that at 10 to 12 years." The problem is, even after that amount of training, no one could remain on top of their game for more than a few years. And "Batman can't really afford to lose.

Leaving the friendly confines of the "Star Wars" franchise, the Lego brand has entered another familiar landscape with a game whose release coincides with that of the new film, "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull." The gameplay in "Lego Indiana Jones" more or less encapsulates plots from the first three movies. Among other things, you'll run in panic from a giant Lego boulder. Best of all, the classic Indy humour is in full tilt, making this game excellent for both young gamers and nostalgic adults.
