The Hourglass Aging Science Blog Carnival: related news

The Hourglass Aging Science Blog Carnival

Chris Patil of Ouroboros is organizing a blog carnival for aging science and longevity research topics: "There's enough good science blogging about the biology of aging that the community deserves its own monthly carnival (along the lines of the general-biology carnival Tangled Bank, or the neuroscience carnival Encephalon, both of which we've hosted here before). So let's start one. I thought long and hard about names and settled on 'Hourglass,' which is topical enough to be appropriate, but general to be inclusive. ... Topics of posts should have something to do with the biology of aging, broadly speaking - including fundamental research in biogerontology, age-related disease, ideas about life extension technologies, your personal experience with calorie restriction, maybe even something about the sociological implications of increased

This week, the Science Weekly team discuss dark energy and the even darker matter of the gender gap with astrophysicist Sarah Bridle - recipient of a Women in Science fellowship. Breaking Down Blog Spam Malware

Jesper Johansson, co-author of Windows Vista Security: Securing Vista Against Malicious Attacks, recently wrote an article in The Register which dissects a new type of threat. Anyone with a blog has probably seen blog spam- comments made on blog posts which have little or nothing to do with the actual blog post, but contain links to spam-related web sites. I have spam filters in place, so I rarely even see the blog spam posts. They are an annoyance, and I simply delete them in periodic batches. However, Jesper did stop to look at the spam and noticed that a new breed was becoming prevalent. The new breed, rather than just leading to some annoying spam site, are actually malware attacks. For a complete breakdown of the threat, and Jesper's dissection and analysis, check out Anatomy of a Malware Scam.

There are those end users that would like to be able to find blog content that’s not technology related, and doesn’t come from self-promotional platforms that are often found on some memes and other blog search engines.

New blog title, new blog theme

Those of you who track this blog will have noticed a couple of things over the last while: First and not least, I haven’t been posting much and secondly the title has changed from Roads to SOA to FinanceTech Directions. The two changes are closely related as after some lengthy discussions with my friends at ebizq, I have decided to relaunch this blog.
