Sometimes a blog logo is more than just a blog logo. When "Bad Reporter" Don Asmussen was assigned to create the art for Phil Bronstein's "Bronstein At Large" blog, he thought he'd create a caricature and that would be the end of it. But no, it became a journey of self doubt, self discovery, and, finally, renewed love for his fellow man. Follow Don's emotional journey in this uplifting and inspiring documentary. Then buy the book.

DALLAS – The Cuban government has blocked the island’s access to a blog written by Yoani Sanchez, the young woman who caused a sensation with her comments about everyday life in Havana on her blog “Generation Y.” In an op-ed for the Dallas newspaper Al Día , Álvaro Vargas Llosa, director of the Center for Global Prosperity, compares the blog to the samizdat, the clandestine distribution of government-suppressed literature in Soviet-bloc countries. Sanchez, in her thirties, lives in Cuba with her husband and 12-year-old son. She reportedly writes her blog from Internet cafes in tourist hotels, downloading text from a memory card and transmitting the blog through a server in Germany. Although only 200,000 Cubans have Internet access on the island, Sanchez’s blog has become infamous, receiving 1,200,000 visitors from inside and outside Cuba

Spanish and UCL (University College London) scientists have discovered a possible terrestrial-type planet orbiting a star in the constellation of Leo. The new planet, which lies at a distance of 30 light years from the Earth, has a mass five times that of our planet but is the smallest found to date. One full day on the new planet would be equivalent to three weeks on Earth.

mikkl666 writes "Following the recent story about the discovery of the youngest planet outside our solar system, Spanish researchers now report that they found the smallest exoplanet observed so far. The planet, known as GJ 436c, was found by analyzing distortions in the orbit of another, larger planet, and its radius is only about 50 percent greater than the Earth's. The scientists are confident that their new method will lead to a series of further discoveries: 'I think we are very close, just a few years away, from detecting a planet like Earth.' You can also reference the the original paper online for further details."

Artist's impression of the extrasolar planet HD 189733b, now known to have methane and water. Astronomers used the Hubble Space Telescope to detect methane -- the first organic molecule found on an extrasolar planet. Hubble also confirmed the presence of water vapor in the Jupiter-size planet's atmosphere, a discovery made in 2007 with the help of the Spitzer Space Telescope. They made the finding by studying how light from the host star filters through the planet's atmosphere. (Credit: ESA, NASA and G. Tinetti (University College London, UK & ESA))

The Hubble Space Telescope has found methane in the atmosphere of a distant planet, the same planet where water was found in 2007, which could aid efforts on finding life. Methane was detected in the atmosphere of a Jupiter-sized planet that circles a star 63 light-years away in the constellation Vulpecula. The planet, HD 189733b, is too close to a nearby star to support life as we know it.

Since I started writing professionally, I have been asked by many friends to open a blog. The reason for their request is that the blog, unlike a weekly column, can be used randomly, instead of weekly. Furthermore, I can write whatever I want about whatever topic, I can even use curse words if the need be, as there is no way of censoring a blog. Most importantly, blogs illicit near immediate reaction from the readers, and many people find it easier to respond to a blog under an anonymous blogger name, than
