Over and over and over again, we hear stories of companies that simply dislike what others are saying about them online, and send over threatening legal letters with no legal basis. These cease-and-desist letters are mostly designed to scare users into giving in, because there's no law against someone criticizing you or saying something bad about you (assuming it's not untrue). The latest, sent in by Davis Freeberg involves the Everyday Finance blog. The blogger there was approached by a company called "Shop to Earn," which offers a multi-level marketing (MLM) system. The blogger wrote a post about it, which Davis Freeberg describes as "well balanced," though the blogger explained the weaknesses of the system and why he chose not to participate.

"There are many features in Blender that other professional 3D suites do not have. For instance, the integrated Game Engine, which allows you to produce interactive animations, is just awesome! For 3D modeling, Blender has a sculpt module where artists can create 3D models only by sculpt geometry in a way similar to what sculpting tools such as ZBrush and MudBox provides. The node editor in Blender is also an incredible tool to create materials and for post-production. Post-production is a powerful tool in Blender. There is a sequencer editor that works like a video editor. You can cut, join, and post-process videos in the sequence editor."

Reader Alex links to news of a study comparing the currency and patch level of various Web browsers, excerpting: "Firefox users were far and away the most likely to use the latest version, with an overwhelming 83.3 percent running an updated browser on any given day. However, despite Firefox's single click integrate auto-update functionality, 16.7 percent of Firefox users still continue to access the Web with an outdated version of the browser, researchers said. The study also revealed that the majority of Safari users (65.3) percent were likely to use the latest version of the browser between December 2007 and June 2008, after Safari version 3 became available. Meanwhile, Microsoft's Internet Explorer users ranked last in terms of safe browsing.

The general public has received word that US District Court Judge Louis Stanton would have YouTube deliver its video usage logs to Viacom as part of litigation. Should all YouTube users rightly be up in arms? Yes. However, before we get to the reaction, in this article I write as a software developer with experience litigating in the realm. Before I opine about the decision, I want to review some common knowledge and atopline view of the situation.YouTube is a large repository of videos, with a large user base -- a crowd of people go there all the time.
