(EMAILWIRE.COM, July 12, 2008 ) Denver, CO - LegalView, the most comprehensive legal resource available on the Web, released details of a newly advertised clinical trial that will target radiation and chemotherapy treatments rather than surgery for mesothelioma patients. The study is for individuals suffering from malignant pleural mesothelioma, which is often considered the most deadly form of mesothelioma cancer. The trial will take approximately 13 weeks and will involve exploratory surgery as well as chemotherapy and radiotherapy, which will be administered directly into the affected area. Mesothelioma cancer is caused by the inhalation of asbestos fibers and dust, which can occur anywhere asbestos has been previously used, although it is most commonly found in insulation within the construction industry.

blog of an advanced scientific investigation studying the link between asbestos and genetics. Researchers, who found a genetic response to a specific type of asbestos known as crocidolite, published their findings in an August 2008 issue of BMC Genetics. The study, a first of its kind, used a methodology of exposing cells within the human lung lining to asbestos and then scientists watched the reaction and changes. The study offers mesothelioma victims a unprecedented look into how asbestos affects the human body. Victims were also provided with a gleam of progress on finding a cure for the condition, although the scientists stated more research is required.

Denver, CO - LegalView, the number one resource for everything and anything legal on the Internet, recently updated readers with the latest piece of mesothelioma information, relating to the request by paid researchers for the automotive, chemical and mining industries to decrease asbestos regulations. In a July 2008 summit in Washington D.C., the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) met with the Office of Solid Waste and Emergency regarding the request. The industry researchers argued that asbestos fibers found in sand, taconite and other materials are less toxic than originally deemed in the 1980s when the regulations were created. However, the EPA along with the International Agency for Research on Cancer, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and The World Health Organization (WHO) have all determined that no level

Jesper Johansson, co-author of Windows Vista Security: Securing Vista Against Malicious Attacks, recently wrote an article in The Register which dissects a new type of threat. Anyone with a blog has probably seen blog spam- comments made on blog posts which have little or nothing to do with the actual blog post, but contain links to spam-related web sites. I have spam filters in place, so I rarely even see the blog spam posts. They are an annoyance, and I simply delete them in periodic batches. However, Jesper did stop to look at the spam and noticed that a new breed was becoming prevalent. The new breed, rather than just leading to some annoying spam site, are actually malware attacks. For a complete breakdown of the threat, and Jesper's dissection and analysis, check out Anatomy of a Malware Scam.

Researchers discovered that certain white blood cells called granulocytes from cancer-immune mice were able to cure cancer in other mice. Now, doctors are putting out the call for healthy granulocyte donors in order to test how well it works on humans. The article quotes lead researcher Zheng Cui saying, "In mice, we've been able to eradicate even highly aggressive forms of malignancy with extremely large tumors. Hopefully, we will see the same results in humans. Our laboratory studies indicate that this cancer-fighting ability is even stronger in healthy humans."

Those of you who track this blog will have noticed a couple of things over the last while: First and not least, I haven’t been posting much and secondly the title has changed from Roads to SOA to FinanceTech Directions. The two changes are closely related as after some lengthy discussions with my friends at ebizq, I have decided to relaunch this blog. However, it will now focus exclusively on the financial services industry and broaden its scope to include all of enterprise infrastructure as it applies to that industry.

JagsLive informs us that the electronics retailer Newegg.com is defying New York lawmakers; it has suddenly stopped collecting sales tax from New York online shoppers. The "Amazon tax," which went into effect June 1, requires online merchants to collect sales tax if they have any affiliates in the state.
