The Volokh Conspiracy is one of the most widely read legal blogs. It has been cited in court rulings. Its readership stands at over 700,000 unique visitors a month, many from academe and some from within the Supreme Court itself. Written by legal scholars and boasting instant, in-depth analysis of top court cases, the blog probably has more influence in the field — and more direct impact — than most law reviews.

Forgive me, Linux Community, for I have sinned. It has been forever since my last confession and I am prepared for my penance. The truth is that I have never particularly cared for the Firefox browser--not because there is anything wrong with it but just because I already have a favorite browser. No, it isn't the one you think it is. My favorite graphical browser is Konqueror and my favorite text-based browser was--and still is--lynx. Putting my own religious fervor and proselytizing nature aside, my task is to review the new Firefox 3 browser for you.

Some of my contacts have recently received an email from an unknown sender featuring my full name in the subject and displaying, upon opening the mail, a message I received almost a year ago as an attachment. I deleted the message long ago, but have kept it in my recycle bin. Can it be that someone has gained access to my hotmail? Or does this sound more like a virus/worm? Can a virus or worm retrieve data from my hotmail acct even though I deleted all contacts and e-mails and disabled my hotmail address? Thanks, Morgane

A UK-based company, 3D Laser Mapping, has developed robots equipped with lasers to automatically scan mines. Its latest mission was to create a 3D map of the San Jose silver mine in Mexico. The remote survey vehicle (RSV) 3D-R1 weighs about 135 kilograms and is 0.6 meter high. It has a width of 0.9 meter and a length of 1.1 meter. For its Mexican mission, the RSV captured about 100 million data points in about 3 days. And it delivered a full 3D vision of the silver mine, including an accurate volumetric calculation of previously ‘worked’ areas. As wrote the 3D Laser Mapping’s owner in a previous document, ‘We already have laser scanners in aircraft, ground vehicles and even robots, what comes next could be down to you.’ But read more…

I had my bankruptcy filed in May 2006. I was told at my 341 meeting that I was discharged by my trustee. However, I got dismissed for failure of my attorney to file my Financial Management Certificate, after it was faxed to him on three separate occasions. My attorney will not answer or return any calls. He's always with other clients. How do I get this corrected and get discharged?

I have been looking at other blogs recently, and being a big Polaroid fan, I headed to this one, My Polaroid Blog. It is a total delight. Jen is a prop stylist in California and her pictures are these ravishing ethereal images that I find incredibly appealing and inspiring. Worth checking out. She has several other blogs too. I am so impressed by the quality of people's blogs and the time they find to devote to them -- especially more than one, am in total awe.

I am currently trying to get more inbound links to my site by leaving comments on blogs. The site is a photography website and I was wondering if anybody knew a good way of finding photoblogs without having to trawl through google. I did try some free software at reallinkfinder but the blogs it brings up are either dead or irrelevant to my keywords.

For every political persuasion, it seems like there is at least a handful of political blogs which chart attitudes and opinions on campaigns, issues and candidates relevant to that political leaning. One hears about a blog breaking news before the "mainstream media" actually covers it. But are people really reading these blogs? The answer is no, as over half of Americans (56 percent) say they never read blogs that discuss politics. Just under one-quarter (23 percent) say that they read them several times a year and just 22 percent of Americans read blogs regularly (several times a month or more).

Can credit card companies garnish my disability check if I stop paying my bills? I have gotten in way over my head and can't make my credit card payments due to illness and the cost of my medical bills and medicine. I have been paying only the amount due but have fallen way behind and now owe late fees and over-the-limit fees.

When I first received my copy of the first volume of Kanon, my first thought would best be described as a dark, empty void containing not even the slightest trace of consciousness or understanding. This thought was quickly followed by a flurry of confusion and an underlying desire to get even with my good friend Aaron. I have absolutely no taste for romance driven anime or manga, and the thought of watching said material has never entered my mind. My taste in anime, if you haven’t guessed by reading past reviews I have scribed (Glass Fleet, Le Chevalier D'Eon), consists of manly men with tall golden hair beating the ever loving crap out of each other, be it with their fists, a blade or just anything that can cause bodily injury in some manner.

timholman writes "After a series of burglaries and auto break-ins in my neighborhood, I'm thinking about adding some video security cameras to my home. To me, the object isn't just deterrence — if someone tries to break into my house or my car (parked on the street in front of my house), I'd like to provide a high-quality image of the perpetrator to the police. Inexpensive video surveillance systems, with their atrocious image quality, are nearly useless. The problem is being able to get good image quality at an affordable price. After some research, I've decided that using network cameras to FTP images to a central server over a HomePlug network is the best solution. However, good megapixel network cameras (e.g. Stardot or Axis cameras) can easily cost more than $1,000 each.

As an actor, I enjoy playing roles, because it gives me the chance to imagine what it would be like to be another person or to live in another set of circumstances. Sometimes, I draw on my life to create my characters. This year I had the opportunity to help write and then act in "Both Sides of the Family," a play about interfaith marriage. Though much of my character was drawn from imagination and not from my life, I found the experience of writing and acting the character, and entering into post-performance discussions with audiences, gave me a chance to reflect on my recently-dissolved second marriage.
