Magnify.net has added new plug-ins to its interface that allow video bloggers that are using moveable Type or WordPress to insert their video directly into their blog posts. The plug-in called "Magnify Publisher" allows bloggers to search for video "using key words and tags, and also embed the desired content directly into a post without ever leaving the WordPress or Moveable Type dashboard" “Bloggers in our Movable Type community have consistently told us that their readers respond to posts with relevant videos and photos, so we’re always looking for ways to make rich media easier to find and share” said Six Apart’s Anil Dash. “Magnify Publisher makes that process extremely easy, providing an integrated application that lets bloggers discover, share or even create multimedia content right from within the familiar Movable Type i

Bloggers stop blogging for a lot of different reasons. But, that wasn’t the question? The question was why investment bloggers stopped – especially good investment bloggers. Why, once established, and with some number of regular readers would an investment blogger stop blogging?

The ongoing ridiculous situation brewing between bloggers and the Associated Press has now taken a turn towards the enjoyably hilarious. We had already mentioned the fact that, despite the AP's complaints that bloggers quoting less than 100 words were violating fair use, the AP had a long history of quoting more than 100 words from bloggers -- and not even linking back to the original blog. Now, in a bit of ultimate irony, the AP's own article about this brouhaha quoted (without linking) twenty-two words from TechCrunch. That's 18 words more than the supposed four word "limit" the AP has suggested. With an ironic chance that wide, TechCrunch's Michael Arrington couldn't resist, and asked his lawyer to send a DMCA takedown notice to the Associated Press, along with a bill for $12.

MANAMA: National Security authorities yesterday summoned bloggers whose websites have been blocked for allegedly fuelling sectarianism and harming national unity. "Promoting false information would only undermine public security and compromise Bahrain's interests," a spokesman said. The bloggers showed understanding for the reasons behind their questioning and the importance of sparing Bahrain any danger, he said. The preventive step has been co-ordinated with the ministerial watchdog set up by the Cabinet. It is also in line with His Majesty King Hamad's call to observe transparency and promote dialogue with people.

Given all that Metallica has done, said, and been through in the last 20 years, what could they still do that would lead bloggers to ask, "What the hell is wrong with Metallica?" In this case, the answer is fairly pedestrian but still dumb: censor bloggers.

It looks like RedLasso, the fast growing video embedding service, is ready to play a game of high-stakes brinksmanship with the networks. Last week CBS (NYSE: CBS), NBC and Fox demanded that the company stop making their content embeddable without their permission. RedLasso’s response: It will continue to make its site available for use by bloggers, even as it works toward a mutual agreement with the networks. In its defense, Red Lasso is invoking the First Amendment right of bloggers to comment on and re-purpose news clips as they see fit. How will this go over with the networks? Probably not good, and the company looks to be laying a lot on the line with its strategy. On the other hand, if the video embedding service were to pay the ultimate price, it could at least go down as a latter-day Joe Hill, remembered in blog posts, if not ne

Metallica just doesn’t get it. (Kids, this was a heavy metal band most popular in the 80s, when we used to have what were called cassette tapes.) The band has again fanned the flames of tech hatred by asking bloggers to take down reviews after it invited those same bloggers to a “listening party” for an upcoming album. And d’oh: The reviews were positive. Double d’oh: The band apparently didn’t ask anyone to sign non-disclosure agreements, so it seems to have no legal leg to stand on.

Beauty Bloggers are no new phenomena to savvy New Yorkers. They all got mightily upset, though when the New York Times published an article about their blogging activities, entitled, Swag, please. The general tone of the feature was that beauty bloggers are hobbyist writers desperate for free beauty goodies. While there will always be a few rogue traders, on the whole, USA beauty bloggers have presented a welcome new voice in the beauty world. Naturally, in all things beauty, at least, where America leads, we follow.
