As part of tourism promotion activities, the Tamil Nadu Government will establish a butterfly park and an insect museum at the Arignar Anna Zoological Park at suburban Vandalur.

Great Park Board Adopts Outdoor Performing Arts and Cultural Event Series

IRVINE, Calif., April 17 /PRNewswire/ -- The Orange County Great Park Corporation Board today approved the themes and programs for the Great Park Summer 2008, an outdoor performing arts and cultural event series that will kick-off the opening of the 27.5-acre Great Park Preview Park. The first community event, "Festival of Flight," debuts the summer programs beginning July 12, 2008. The event will mark the Great Park's third anniversary with special exhibits, activities and performances. A series of programs will take place between July and October and will include night flights on the Great Park Balloon, musical and dance performances, a homecoming for El Toro Oral History Interviewees and special events for children and teens.

New Kids' Museum Sets Grand Opening for October

The Please Touch Museum, currently occupying 11,000 square feet at 210 N. 21st St., will make its debut at its new location on October 18, officials of the Philadelphia arts facility just announced. The museum's new 38,000-square-foot digs will be in Fairmount Park at historic Memorial Hall, which is being converted at a cost of $88 million. Developed in 1876 as the Fine Arts Gallery for the city's Centennial Exhibition, the architecturally significant structure come full circle; since 1876, it has been the address of the original Philadelphia Museum of Art, a community recreation center, the office of the Fairmount Park Commission, and the Philadelphia Police Department's Accident Investigation Unit. Construction activity will add a 9,000-square-foot space to the property to serve as exhibition space for the celebrated 84-year-old Dentze

Royal Ontario Museum to give away 1,200 free tickets monthly

Toronto's Royal Ontario Museum is giving away $1.3-million in free tickets to people who might not otherwise be able to afford admission. A new program, announced on Sunday by Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty, will distribute 1,200 free tickets every month to at-risk youth, seniors on fixed incomes, aboriginal people, abused women and physically or mentally disabled people. The program also provides family passes to new Canadians and gives post-secondary students free admission to the museum on Tuesdays. The Royal Ontario Museum's Community Access Network, or ROM CAN, is supported by United Way Toronto and the Institute for Canadian Citizenship. "The ROM strongly supports the principle of Museum access for everyone," said museum CEO and director William Thorsell, pictured, in a statement.

As Indiana Jones gets set to hit cinema screens with a new death-defying adventure in the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, a Paris museum acknowledged yesterday its star exhibit crystal skull was not what it was cracked up to be. One of only a dozen such skulls known to exist worldwide, the Quai Branly museum's piece was acquired in 1878 from an Indiana Jones-type explorer, Alphonse Pinart, as an Aztec masterpiece believed to be hundreds of years old.
