This is beginning to feel a bit like Groundhog Day, but someone is putting out these leaks for a reason. Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO) and Google (NSDQ: GOOG) could announce an ad outsourcing deal early next week according to a Dow Jones (NYSE: NWS) Newswires report at WSJ. Of course, this deal was said to be coming ‘next week’ last week and a couple of weeks before that.

If there's anything I know how to do, it's procrastinate. Just ask my friends --I'll put off important papers until the night before they're due, and I'll come up with the most inane excuses to put off doing something (I don't remember when "I have to do my nails" has ever qualified as a legitimate exemption). But, my most-favored procrastination tool --reading blogs --has turned out to be quite worthwhile. I decided to start my own blog my freshman year of college (Pretty Legit) where I began to practice writing and familiarizing myself with the world of online media. It was hard at times --learning enough html to customize my site was sometimes frustrating, and getting proficient at Photoshop took weeks and weeks of work --but the experience in general has given me so much (and probably had a hand in getting me this internship).

Some of you may have noticed I’ve been silent for a week. My computer was in for repairs (a stuck CD drive, boo), Apple reposessed it and was dragging its feet in the tech support arena. Meanwhile, I discovered that I hadn’t written down my login and password for Wordpress anywhere so I couldn’t get in to blog! This was total negligence on my part and I apologize for my silence. But all’s well again, I can play my music CD’s and I’ve returned to the blogosphere, with my lesson intact: keep adequate documentation of all your login info.

A friend of mine, this past week, called me on my cell to give me a bad news. "I lost my job," she told me. "What?" I asked. "Yes, the boss called me this morning to inform that the company no longer needs my services. Now I am without a job," she said.

Amazon.com has sued New York State, over a law which forces online retailers to collect sales tax on shipments to the state. Amazon filed the complaint last Friday in the State Supreme Court in Manhattan. The move comes after the approval of a section of the New York State Tax Law which requires Internet retailers -- including those who do not have a physical presence in the state -- to collect taxes on behalf of the state. In particular, the law targets affiliates of Amazon.com and other e-commerce retailers, claiming that a retailer must collect taxes if they use any "in-state entity" to directly or indirectly refer customers to a retailer. The lawsuit (AMAZON.COM LLC and AMAZON SERVICES, LLC. vs. NEW YORK STATE DEPARTMENT OF TAXATION AND FINANCE), challenges the constitutionality of N.

Jeppe Utzon writes "Back in 1987, when I was a teenager in high school still, I spent most evenings, nights and weekends writing small programs in BASIC on my Amstrad CPC 6128. Some of these programs were simple games, some drew graphics, some could help me with math or train me in French — and most were utterly pointless. But I never had as much satisfying fun as when writing those programs — even if no one in my family understood any of it when I proudly displayed the fruits of three sleepless nights of labor. Now, 20 years later, I still have a sealed pack of about 15 disks with all my work on them (along with a few of my favorite games) and I was wondering if it was possible to get the data out somehow so that I could run it in emulation on my Mac.

A book project being prepared by a retired U.P. Diliman lecturer required my art and has me shuttling regularly to my former school these past couple of months. The venue of our first meeting befuddled me: Bahay ng mga alumni? Where’s that? What’s that? If you are not a regular visitor to the campus, you have a tendency to lose your way like I did. There are a lot more buildings, commercial establishments and even the traffic scheme is different from the one I knew 35 years ago.

Sadly, my vision was replaced by the realization that it was not as easy as I anticipated. In trying to increase my sales, I learned several things along the way.

The encore to the original iPhone, which launched nearly a year ago amid unprecedented industry buzz, is widely expected to be the main attraction when Chief Executive Steve Jobs takes the stage at Apple's developers' conference next Monday. The new iPhone will be accompanied by support for corporate e-mail and a slate of new programs that could help boost sales of the devices, which sport a touch-sensitive screen, wireless Internet access and iPod-style media functions. The thing for Apple is to be able to leverage the iPhone for further innovation, or they run the risk of being the next (Motorola) RAZR, which was iconic in its own way, but for which innovation did not come fast enough, Shiv Bakhshi, director of mobility research for market research firm IDC.

Four years ago this week, I was plying my trade for Middlesex against Scotland in Edinburgh, blissfully unaware that Michael Vaughan was about to suffer an injury to his knee which would in turn catapult me into the England side. It was a horrible piece of luck on his part, something that he had no control over, and the prelude to more problems in the years to come on that troublesome joint. For me, it was like the golden ticket in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me to pursue my wildest dreams, to do what every schoolboy cricketer fantasises about, and walk out to bat at Lord's for England.
