Claremont Gradaute University Arts Management Program Expands With New Leadership - Revamped program is the only of its kind in California, and it aims to keep Los Angeles' creative talent in the arts and nonprofits local. A recent study indicates that the arts and culture are the second-largest generator for the LA economy. As head of a municipal agency that funds 300 arts organizations each year, Zucker has long been concerned with the quality of leaders in the field. In 2000 she spurred the County to begin funding the largest arts internship program in the country in conjunction with the Getty Foundation. Close to 300 undergraduates are paid to work in Los Angeles area nonprofit arts organizations each summer.

Kresge Foundation Announces $8.8 Million Commitment to Detroit Arts Community

DETROIT, Oct. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- The Kresge Foundation, long known for its national support of the arts, announced Kresge Arts in Detroit October 16 during a press conference and reception held at the Detroit Institute of Arts for more than 160 attendees representing the area's civic and arts communities. Kresge Arts in Detroit is an $8.8 million commitment to Detroit's Wayne, Macomb and Oakland counties and is designed to develop and financially support individual artists, arts and cultural organizations and arts- infrastructure groups in the metropolitan area. Eighteen Kresge Artist Fellowships of $25,000 each and one Kresge Eminent Artist award of $50,000 will be awarded each year. Arts and cultural organizations are receiving operating support.

Call for Artists: Residencies Project

Aberystwyth Arts Centre’s Artists’ Residencies project has successfully launched its first year, in the new Thomas Heatherwick designed studios. The call is now out for artists to apply for further residencies. TBS sues ABC over copyrights

Tokyo Broadcasting System Inc said Tuesday it has sued its U.S. peer ABC, claiming that this summer’s ABC obstacle course program “Wipeout” is a copycat of TBS TV programs, including “Takeshi’s Castle.” In a suit filed with the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, the major Japanese TV broadcaster is seeking an injunction ordering ABC not to air the “Wipeout” series anymore and demanding that ABC pay damages over the alleged infringement of TBS copyrights to “Takeshi’s Castle” and other programs.
